British Police Ban Fans of Israeli Soccer Team From Attending Game

Soon enough, it will be illegal to be Jewish in the United Kingdom. 

It makes sense, if you think about it. As Sharia law spreads, open season on white girls is declared, and censorship against Christian prayers and criticism of Islam has become the de facto law of the land, banning Jews is a logical next step.

The West Midlands police have declared that they cannot protect the fans of the Israeli Maccabi soccer team at a local match, so they have banned them from attending a match featuring the team. It’s a neat way to slap restrictions on Jews–our “diversity is our strength” Muslim residents hate you, so you must go. 

The Telegraph’s Poppy Cockburn @kafkaswife nails it on Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters ban. She compares it to “if the police said it’s too difficult to police a Palestine march..we’re just about to ban it.

Quite on brand for a number of reasons. First, the restriction is aimed at Jews and their supporters; second, the implicit admission that the police cannot restrain the violent impulses of Muslims in predominantly Muslim areas, and third, the arbitrary use of police powers to restrict disfavored speech (in this case, the cheering on of Israelis). 

The decision was made, of course, because British politicians (among others) pushed the ban. British Muslim politicians, to be clear.

At least Keir Starmer has come out against the decision, so there is that. Perhaps banning Jews from a sporting match was a step too far even for him, if not all Labour Party members. 

No Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will be allowed to attend their Europa League match away to Aston Villa because of safety concerns.

West Midlands Police has concerns about its ability to deal with any potential protests when the Israeli side play at Villa Park on Thursday, 6 November.

The Safety Advisory Group – the body responsible for issuing safety certificates for matches – informed Villa no travelling fans will be permitted at the match in Birmingham.

Villa said: “The club are in continuous dialogue with Maccabi Tel Aviv and the local authorities throughout this ongoing process.

“The safety of supporters attending the match and the safety of local residents is at the forefront of any decision.”

The move has been criticised by a number of politicians, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer describing it as “the wrong decision”.

The “safety” argument is often used by universities here in the U.S. in order to prevent conservatives from speaking on college campuses. It’s called the “heckler’s veto,” where threats of violence are used to silence the speech of disfavored individuals and groups. Rather than preventing the violence or punishing those who commit it, authorities use the threats as an excuse to prohibit certain speech from being heard.

It’s a clever tactic, giving the gloss of respectability to otherwise obvious censorship. San Francisco State praised students who assaulted and briefly kidnapped Riley Gaines when she spoke on campus. It’s the same principle: silence the offending speech.

Further, our community fiercely believes in unity, connection, care and compassion, and we value different ideas, even when they are not our own. SF State is regularly noted as one of the most diverse campuses in the United States—this is what makes us Gators, and this is what makes us great. Diversity promotes critical discussions, new understandings and enriches the academic experience. But we may also find ourselves exposed to divergent views and even views we find personally abhorrent. These encounters have sometimes led to discord, anger, confrontation and fear. Thank you to our students who participated peacefully in Thursday evening’s event. It took tremendous bravery to stand in a challenging space. That is how San Francisco State responded to a mob attacking and kidnapping a speaker on campus. 

With regard to the soccer match, it may be that Starmer will find a way to reverse the local police’s decision, so there is hope that the heckler’s veto may not succeed. 

But we can all see where this is going. The Pogroms will continue until the Jews either convert or are destroyed. This is just the beginning.
