Brooklyn Madman Slashes Female Cop, Officers End Threat With Gunfire [WATCH]

A female NYPD officer was slashed in the face early Sunday morning in Brooklyn after an armed man attempted to force his way into a police precinct, according to law enforcement sources.

The suspect was fatally shot by responding officers moments later.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. outside the 73rd Precinct in Brownsville.

Authorities said the man, believed to be in his 40s, tried to enter the precinct through an employee entrance.

When an officer confronted him and directed him to use the front entrance, the man produced a knife and attacked.

The officer sustained a slash wound to her head. Officials described the injury as minor.

Following the assault, the suspect fled on foot, prompting a pursuit by multiple officers. The chase continued down the street toward a nearby housing development at East New York Avenue and Amboy Street.

Witnesses and police sources said the man brandished the knife again and charged at officers.

Two NYPD officers opened fire, striking the suspect. Emergency personnel transported him to Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to sources.

The identity of the suspect has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police officials are reviewing body-worn camera footage and interviewing witnesses as part of the inquiry into the sequence of events.

The officer who was injured has not been publicly identified.
