Case Against Criminal Illegal Alien Helping Judge Dugan Is ‘Open and Shut’: Hugh Hewitt [WATCH]

Federal authorities arrested Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan on Friday morning for allegedly assisting an illegal immigrant facing violent crime charges in evading immigration enforcement.

During a panel discussion on Fox News’ “Special Report,” syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt described the case as appearing to be “open and shut.”

Reports indicate that Dugan was arrested after allegedly helping Eduardo Flores Ruiz, an undocumented gang member, avoid apprehension by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on April 18.

“I’ve heard from legal experts on really all sides ideologically saying there appears to have been obstruction here, and that is a crime,” said host Bret Baier.

“Yeah, I don’t think it’s a close case, Bret,” Hewitt responded.

“I listened to Attorney General [Pam] Bondi talk earlier about how the judge escorted the defendant who was under the ICE investigation out the back door, along with the defendant’s counsel, to evade the ICE people in the hallway after engaging in a shouting match with them.”

Hewitt emphasized that although judges are afforded professional respect, they are still subject to the law.

“Everyone is subject to the same law in the United States. A robe is not an invisibility cloak. I think they’ve got her cold to rights, and I don’t know what happens. I don’t know what kind of punishment goes for obstruction and concealment, but the way that General Bondi laid down the fact, it’s open and shut. She was breaking the law,” Hewitt said.

Attorney General Pam Bondi also addressed the incident earlier Friday, issuing a warning to members of the judiciary who assist illegal immigrants in evading law enforcement.

“They’re deranged is all I can think of. I think some of these judges think they are beyond and above the law, and they are not,” Bondi said.

“And we’re sending a very strong message today [that] if you are harboring a fugitive, we don’t care who you are. If you are helping hide one, if you are giving a TdA [Tren de Aragua] member guns, anyone who is illegally in this country, we will come after you and prosecute you. We will find you.”

Dugan’s arrest follows the recent apprehension of former New Mexico Democratic Judge Jose “Joel” Cano and his wife.

Federal authorities took Cano and his wife into custody on Thursday for allegedly harboring a member of the violent Tren de Aragua gang. Homeland Security Investigations and FBI agents executed a search and arrest warrant at their home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and video footage showed Cano and his wife being handcuffed outside the residence.

The incidents involving Dugan and Cano come amid the Trump administration’s intensified focus on immigration enforcement.

President Donald Trump told The Daily Caller News Foundation on Tuesday that he is satisfied with the current pace of deportations under his immigration agenda, despite opposition from Democratic lawmakers and some media organizations.

No official comment has yet been issued from the Milwaukee County Circuit Court regarding Dugan’s arrest.

Federal authorities have also not released additional details about the pending legal proceedings.

The charges against Dugan are expected to move forward in federal court, and the case has added to ongoing national discussions about immigration enforcement, judicial accountability, and public officials’ responsibilities under the law.
