Authorities continue to investigate the background of Minneapolis school shooter Robin Westman, 23, whose writings revealed disturbing details about a past relationship and violent intent before opening fire at Annunciation Catholic School last week, as reported by The New York Post.
The Daily Mail identified Westman’s ex-girlfriend as 22-year-old Abigail Bodick. Social media photos show Bodick at anime conventions dressed as a “furry,” a subculture that Westman referenced repeatedly in writings tied to the attack.

In his manifesto, Westman described Bodick, whom he referred to as “Aby” or “Abbey,” as the “root of my suffering” and a “catalyst” for his behavior.
Westman’s father told investigators his son had recently broken up with a significant partner before the September 4 shooting.
In documents obtained by authorities, Westman admitted to pointing a gun at Bodick’s head in the weeks before the massacre, writing that he felt no remorse but only fear of being caught. He wrote, “It felt good, actually, to point it right at their stupid head. … I bought it to kill kids!”

The shooter left behind further writings describing violent intent. One entry stated, “I want to kill so many people. I will do it. All I want to think about is guns and killing.”
In another, Westman wrote about how his ex would react after the attack, saying, “Let’s see how much you love me after I complete my mission!”

On September 4, students and parishioners gathered for a back-to-school Mass at Annunciation Catholic School, just two days into the academic year. Westman opened fire through the church’s stained-glass windows, firing 116 rounds.
The shooting killed two children, Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moyski, 10, and injured at least 18 others, including 16 children and three parishioners in their 80s.
Investigators noted that Westman, who identified as transgender, had written political slogans on his gun magazines, including “Kill Donald Trump” and “for the children.” The shooter’s mother had been employed at the school.
Photos shared online showed Westman and Bodick together at local events in earlier years, including a Renaissance fair and aquarium visit. The timeline of their breakup remains unclear.
Authorities continue to examine Westman’s digital footprint and writings to determine how the personal relationship factored into the motive behind the attack. Bodick and her family have not commented publicly.
Westman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
