CBS News President Wendy McMahon abruptly announced her resignation on Monday, amid growing fallout from a $20 billion lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump against CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
The lawsuit alleges that the network’s flagship program 60 Minutes deceptively edited a 2023 interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a memo sent to staff, McMahon stated, “It’s become clear the company and I do not agree on the path forward.” Her departure comes just weeks after the executive producer of 60 Minutes also resigned, signaling increasing turmoil within the network’s leadership.

President Trump initially filed the suit in October, seeking $10 billion in damages. That amount was later doubled to $20 billion in an amended complaint earlier this year.
The lawsuit accuses 60 Minutes of altering Harris’s responses in a way that changed the context of the interview, making her appear more coherent and composed.
According to the lawsuit, CBS engaged in “deceptive broadcasting conduct” that harmed Trump, his campaign, and voters across the country.

The complaint outlines how 60 Minutes allegedly spliced Harris’s rambling answer to one question with a completely unrelated statement she had made earlier, giving the appearance of a polished, substantive response.

One example cited in the lawsuit shows 60 Minutes anchor Bill Whitaker asking Harris, “But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening?”
In the original exchange, Harris responded with a meandering comment referencing vague regional movements and diplomatic advocacy. The broadcast, however, replaced her answer with a different, more structured reply:
“We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”
Holy. Shit.
60 Minutes cut Kamala’s nonsense answer on Israel and replaced it with a completely seperate sentence she said earlier in the interview…

Paramount is currently engaged in talks to settle the case, with company executives concerned about how ongoing litigation may impact a pending merger with Skydance Media.
Reports indicate that Paramount’s controlling shareholder, Shari Redstone, has expressed willingness to offer concessions to gain approval from the Trump administration for the multibillion-dollar merger.
The Wall Street Journal noted that CBS’s legal standoff with Trump is becoming a factor in the government’s review of the merger, with both companies reportedly acknowledging that “Trump’s dissatisfaction with CBS News will make the review tougher than they anticipated.”

While some legal analysts have criticized the merits of the case, Paramount appears to be taking the matter seriously, especially as it attempts to navigate regulatory approval from the current administration.
McMahon’s resignation is the latest in a series of executive shakeups that have hit CBS News as the network faces legal, financial, and political scrutiny over the editing of the Harris interview.
