CBS News is facing renewed criticism after airing a shortened version of comments made by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief Kristi Noem regarding the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member with a criminal history that includes domestic violence and child exploitation.
Abrego Garcia was recently indicted by a federal grand jury in Tennessee on charges related to human smuggling.
According to the indictment, he faces one count of conspiracy to transport aliens and one count of unlawful transportation of undocumented aliens.

Authorities confirmed that he had been ordered deported to Uganda following his release from a Tennessee prison.
Despite that order, a federal judge appointed under former President Barack Obama blocked Abrego Garcia’s immediate deportation, allowing him to remain in the United States as legal proceedings continue.
DHS Chief Noem appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday to discuss the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement policies and efforts to deport violent criminal aliens such as Abrego Garcia.
In the broadcast version that aired, CBS included only a portion of her statement, where she said, “[And] the one thing that we will continue to do is make sure that [Abrego Garcia] does not walk free in the United States of America.”

However, a fuller version of her remarks that was not aired contained additional details about Abrego Garcia’s criminal record.
Noem stated, “This individual was a known human smuggler, MS-13 gang member, an individual who was a wife beater and someone who was so perverted that he solicited nude photos from minors and even his fellow human traffickers told him to knock it off. He was so sick in what he was doing and how he was treating small children. He needs to never be in the United States of America and our administration is making sure we’re doing all that we can to bring him to justice.”
This morning, I joined CBS to report the facts about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Instead, CBS shamefully edited the interview to whitewash the truth about this MS-13 gang member and the threat he poses to American public safety.

The decision to air only part of her statement has raised questions about editorial practices at CBS, which has previously faced allegations of selectively editing interviews and coverage of political figures.
In July, CBS and its parent company, Paramount, agreed to a settlement with President Donald Trump following his $20 billion lawsuit over the editing of a “60 Minutes” interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.
The lawsuit alleged that the network altered Harris’s answers to make them appear more coherent than they were in the original recording.
According to Fox News, Paramount agreed to pay President Trump $16 million upfront and pledged to make changes to its editorial policies as part of the settlement.
The lawsuit cited instances in which “60 Minutes” spliced together Harris’s remarks, replacing incoherent responses with separate sentences she had said earlier in the interview.
Holy. Shit.
60 Minutes cut Kamala’s nonsense answer on Israel and replaced it with a completely seperate sentence she said earlier in the interview…

The latest controversy involving Noem’s comments adds to the scrutiny of CBS’s handling of politically sensitive interviews and broadcasts.
Federal authorities have not provided a timeline on when Abrego Garcia’s deportation proceedings may resume, but DHS has indicated its commitment to ensuring he does not remain in the United States.
The Department of Justice has not commented publicly on the ongoing case against Abrego Garcia or the judicial decision that delayed his deportation.
