Radio host Charlamagne tha God responded to President Donald Trump’s recent criticism by telling the president directly, “I’m rooting for you, but I need you focused.”
As Breitbart reported, the exchange began after President Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday, referring to the “Breakfast Club” host as a “low IQ individual” and a “racist sleazebag.”
The president’s remarks followed Charlamagne’s Saturday appearance on My View with Lara Trump, where the host suggested that “traditional conservatives” could reclaim the Republican Party by focusing on transparency around the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Trump criticized Charlamagne’s statements and questioned the host’s nickname, writing, “Why is he allowed to use the word ‘GOD’ when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?”
In his Monday radio show, Charlamagne responded, “Listen, President Trump, don’t worry about Charlamagne tha God. I know something I said hit a nerve — but I don’t want you rattled.”
He continued, “I want you to end wars, okay? I want you to keep the border secure. I want you to have the economy booming.”
“Believe it or not, I’m rooting for you, but I need you focused,” he added.

“We need you focused on two things: the economy, and Epstein.”
The radio host emphasized that he wanted transparency with the Epstein files and didn’t want the American public to be distracted.
Trump, in his Truth Social post, cited multiple accomplishments during his second term in office, including securing the border, reducing inflation, and ending several global conflicts.
He noted that he helped bring an end to the decades-long conflict between the Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, highlighting that over 7 million lives had been lost in the region’s violence.
He also referenced his administration’s actions on Iran’s nuclear capabilities and efforts to close the U.S. border. “Creating the greatest economy, where prices and Inflation have come way down,” Trump wrote.
While Charlamagne acknowledged that the border is “definitely harder to cross,” he claimed it was not “closed.”
Charlamagne also commented on Trump’s use of the word “sleazebag.” “Depending on who you ask, that may apply to me,” he said. “I personally prefer ‘friendly neighborhood a-hole.’”
He admitted he’s never taken an IQ test, adding, “I’ve been surprising myself my whole life, like, damn, ‘I actually said that?’”
Despite ongoing disagreements, Charlamagne reiterated that he hopes America succeeds, regardless of who holds office, saying:
“I am an American. I don’t care who’s in the White House, I want America to succeed.”
President Trump was recently nominated by Pakistan for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, reinforcing his claim of tangible foreign policy achievements.
