Kansas City Chiefs defensive powerhouse Chris Jones is making headlines for more than his on-field dominance. The three-time Super Bowl champion has pledged $1.5 million to spring a convicted cafeteria worker from prison, after she was sentenced to nine years behind bars for swiping an astonishing 11,000 cases of chicken wings, as reported by TMZ.

The 68-year-old woman, Vera Liddell, who served as a food manager at an elementary school in the Chicago suburbs, admitted to pilfering millions worth of chicken wings over a 19-month spree. Her crime was uncovered during a routine audit, which revealed that the school’s food budget went way over.

Jones, 30, fresh off signing a hefty five-year, $158.75 million extension with the Chiefs, is now stepping up to the plate—this time, not for the Chiefs but for Liddell. “I’ll pay for the wings that she stole to get her free,” Jones announced in a post on X.

However, despite Jones’ generous offer, legal experts say that’s not how justice works. Liddell has already been convicted and sentenced, and no amount of money can undo her time behind bars unless something truly extraordinary occurs.
