NewsNation host Chris Cuomo recently remarked that supporters of former President Donald Trump view him as someone “hired to do a dirty job,” a sentiment he discussed in a circulating video.
Cuomo’s comments come as Trump’s momentum continues in the 2024 race, recently drawing over 20,000 attendees to a rally at Madison Square Garden, with tens of thousands more gathering outside the arena.
In the video, Cuomo pushed back against stereotypes about Trump’s base, arguing that supporters should not be conflated with Trump’s often controversial rhetoric and behavior.

“You gotta stop thinking that the people who support Trump are like Trump, that they speak like Trump, that they act like Trump. They don’t,” Cuomo stated. “They want to hire Trump to do a dirty job. They want him to be a virus to the political corpus. They want him to disrupt, to destroy, to demean those that they disrespect and dislike, the system that they distrust and despise.”
Cuomo suggested that Trump’s supporters see him as a weapon against what they view as a deeply flawed political establishment, explaining that this perception helps them overlook behaviors they might otherwise find objectionable. “They want someone to do what they believe has been done to them and that they cannot do themselves,” Cuomo said, implying that supporters view Trump as a corrective force in politics.
He compared the situation to sending “somebody into the jungle,” emphasizing that his supporters don’t mind his “savage” nature because they believe he’s going into a harsh political environment.
Whoa! Chris Cuomo gets it.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has escalated her rhetoric against Trump.
During a recent CNN town hall, Harris labeled Trump a “fascist,” echoing recent statements by former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly that Trump allegedly admired “German generals in World War II.”
.@KamalaHarris wanted another debate, and she got one… with herself. She was supposed to “close the deal” at a CNN town hall last night… but somehow, she made things worse and the media is freaking out. They spent the last two months concocting a candidate who isn’t… pic.twitter.com/D4tHGv6hlf

The ramped-up attacks coincide with recent polling showing a virtual tie in the 2024 race.
According to RealClearPolitics, Trump currently leads Harris by a narrow 0.1% margin in a national polling average covering October 11 to October 26.
The slim margin remains consistent when factoring in third-party candidates such as Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party, independent Cornel West, and Libertarian Chase Oliver.
As the race tightens, both Trump and Harris are ramping up campaign appearances and media outreach, with Trump capitalizing on strong turnout at large rallies and Harris intensifying her efforts in key battleground states.
Both candidates are courting crucial voting demographics, with Trump drawing significant support from male voters, while Harris leads among women, according to recent surveys.
