Commentator Carl Higbie pointed to new polling data and past statements from Democratic leaders to argue that the Democratic Party is increasingly out of step with public opinion on immigration enforcement and voter identification laws.

Higbie said the polling, which he described as newly released, shows majority support among Americans for deportation policies and enforcement of immigration laws, despite continued opposition from Democratic officials and activists.

“Actually, before I sit down, I got some new polling. I actually want to show you. It is hot off the press,” Higbie said.

“Okay, despite all the noise and the human purple haired popsicles in Minnesota, turns out Americans still support deportations, like mass deportations and making sure illegals don’t vote in our elections either again, the Democrats find themselves on the wrong side of an issue.”

According to Higbie, the poll indicates that 61 percent of Americans support the deportation of all illegal immigrants.

“Now this new poll shows that overall, 61% of Americans support the deportation of all illegals,” he said.

“Okay, so if you’re for laws and stuff, congratulations, you’re in the majority and you’re not crazy, despite what your liberal in laws screaming over your dinner table.”

Higbie said the numbers become more pronounced when broken down by party affiliation, particularly on the question of whether illegal immigration is a crime.

“But if you break this down even further, it gets even crazier,” Higbie said.

“It shows just how absolutely detached the Democrats are from the rest of America.”

He continued, “Despite what the actual law says that coming here illegally is, in fact, a crime, hence why it’s called illegal immigration. But, but check this out, only 48% of Democrats… understand that breaking our immigration law to come here is illegal, whereas Republicans apparently have a 99% literacy rate, because that’s the percentage of Republicans who think that illegals are, in fact illegal.”

Higbie said the poll also examined views on whether illegal immigration is a problem and what role Immigration and Customs Enforcement should play.

“Now look at this. Only 33% of Democrats said no, not really,” Higbie said.

“Which leads me to what people think based on party, of what ICE should be doing.”

He cited polling showing opposition among Democrats to ICE carrying out immigration enforcement.

“Because 81% of Democrats, okay, do not think that the agencies that’s literally called immigrations, customs enforcement should be enforcing immigration laws,” Higbie said.

“Only 16% of libs thought the agency literally named that should be doing that.”

Higbie contrasted those views with past Democratic rhetoric on immigration enforcement, playing video of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

“Every person, every human being, has the legal right to come to the United States and seek asylum or shelter,” Wu said.

Higbie questioned the legal basis for that claim.

“It’s weird. I was looking through my constitution, I was trying to find, find where it’s written in the Bill of Rights that that, but it wasn’t there,” Higbie said.

He also criticized Democratic opposition to voter ID laws, referencing comments made by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“The SAVE Act is nothing more than Jim Crow, 2.0,” Schumer said.

Higbie responded by citing polling data on voter identification support across racial groups, introducing analysis from CNN’s Harry Enten.

“Take a look here. Favorite photo ID to vote,” Enten said. “85% of white people favor it. 82% of Latino 76% of black Americans favor it. So the bottom line is this, voter ID is not controversial in this country. A photo ID to vote is not controversial in this country.”

Higbie concluded his segment by highlighting what he described as the contradiction between Democratic rhetoric and polling data.

“Whoops,” Higbie said.
