During a live CNN segment on Monday, anchor Kate Bolduan told conservative commentator Scott Jennings to “zip it” in a heated exchange about inflation and President Joe Biden’s legacy.
The panel discussion, which included Democrat-supporting pundit Bakari Sellers, took place ahead of the certification of President-elect Donald Trump’s victory.
The discussion centered on Biden’s legacy, Trump’s reelection, and the state of the U.S. economy. Jennings, a former aide to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), expressed surprise at Bolduan’s amazement over Trump’s victory, given the scrutiny surrounding January 6, 2021.

“They looked at what happened on January the 6th, they looked at all the things Democrats claimed about Donald Trump. And they also analyzed every single decision that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris made. And they delivered Donald Trump a convincing four years,” Jennings said.
Sellers, a former Democratic state lawmaker, claimed that Trump was inheriting “one of the best economies that a president has inherited in a very long period of time.” He also asserted that “net migration at the border is lower than it was even before Donald Trump took office.”
Jennings pushed back, stating, “Okay. I mean, I recognize that was the argument that was made during the election. And I would also like to recognize that the American people soundly rejected that argument.”
The discussion grew more contentious when Sellers claimed that “prices are going down.” Jennings disputed the statement, saying, “They’re not going down. Inflation is still going up.”
Sellers responded, “It’s plateaued.”
Bolduan then interjected, supporting Sellers’ argument. “It’s decreasing in rate, which is the entire goal of the Federal Reserve,” she said.
Jennings sought clarification, asking, “Are prices going down or not, just to be clear? No, they’re not and they’re…”
Bolduan interrupted him, stating, “They are down from their sky-high rates, yes. Wait, wait, wait. Stop! Let’s move on…”
As Jennings and Sellers continued to debate, talking over each other, Bolduan appeared visibly frustrated and told Jennings, “Zip it!”
Jennings attempted to conclude his argument, saying, “…to paint a picture of a country that doesn’t exist! I don’t understand!”
Bolduan responded, “I’m not painting anything, I’m painting stop talking! That’s what I’m painting.”

This exchange is not the first tense moment between Jennings and Sellers on CNN.
Last month, Jennings scolded Sellers for touching him during a disagreement over Trump’s campaign promise to lower grocery prices.
As the lone conservative voice on many CNN political panels, Jennings often finds himself at odds with his counterparts, leading to spirited debates that sometimes turn contentious, as seen in Monday’s segment.
