President Trump’s numbers are in the toilet, but shockingly enough, people dislike the Democrats more.
It’s a pox on both their houses.
Congressional Dems’ numbers with Dems are atrociously awful. (Even worse among all voters.)
Most Dems (55%) think their party has the wrong priorities!
Unlike 2006 or 2018, Dem leaders have a negative net approval with Dems!

However much we might like to give about polls crap for being awful and biased, there’s no point in hiding that Trump is only popular with his MAGA base, although he retains strong support among even non-MAGA Republicans. The mood on the economy is sour, people are worried about the Iran war, for good or ill, and most importantly, a lot of people think he is focused on the wrong issues.
That could translate into a bonanza of seat pickups in November.
But not because people like the Democrats. In fact, even many Democrats don’t like the Democrats. Their votes will be entirely based on hatred of Trump, validating the Democratic strategy of doing absolutely, positively nothing aside from lambasting Trump and sabotaging everything he does, to the detriment of the country.
If I had to bet, I would expect the Democrats to pick up a fair number of seats in November.
The Democratic Party has a deeply motivated base and a clear advantage on the generic congressional ballot ahead of this fall’s midterms despite dismal impressions of its current leaders in Congress, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
Democratic registered voters are far more motivated right now than Republicans. While the party has a 5-point edge on the generic ballot, among those who say they’re deeply motivated to vote, that advantage expands to a massive 16 points.
Democrats enter this year with a chance to capitalize on public dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled government in Washington. CNN’s poll found a majority of Americans consider the first year of Trump’s second term to be a failure, with just 29% of independents approving of his job performance.
The generic congressional ballot measures which of the two major parties voters would rather support in an upcoming election. While it does not capture how voters may ultimately respond to the candidates whose names appear in their district, the generic ballot can be an early indicator of which party holds the upper hand nationwide.
It’s the motivation factor that matters. Generic public opinion is correlated with electoral success, but less than one might think. What matters is who votes, and in off-year elections, less motivated voters are less likely to show up at the polls. And Democrats hate Trump with a passion.

Stopped by a “No Kings” Rally just outside of Austin,Texas.
I asked one simple question over and over:
“How exactly is Trump acting like a king?”
“Trump is not a king… but he’s acting like one because… everything.” (followed by painful silence when asked for one single example)
“He’s a wannabe dictator… but he removed a dictator from Venezuela.”
“Obama, Biden, and Reagan used the exact same executive powers on immigration and Iran? Yeah… but that doesn’t count because it wasn’t Trump.”
Zero specifics.
Maximum selective outrage.
Liberal logic in full effect.
Slogans loud.
Details? Nowhere to be found.
Watch and tell me your favorite mental gymnastics moment…
It’s not the what, but the who, and the most motivated voters are driven by the strongest emotion there is: hate.
None of that means much, though, when it comes to the next election for president, which is where Democrats have a huge problem: nobody likes them, and few people think THEY have the right priorities either. And there is precisely zero indication that the Democrats have the will or the ability to change course on the most important issues of the day.
They are captured by the farthest left wing of their base, and as we have seen in the 2025 election, the momentum is with the radical communists who want to destroy the family, sterilize the kids, and destroy the American economy. Their biggest candidates are burdened by problems in their own states, and Trump is going to dissect the fraud in California, Illinois, and New York, and that is going to hurt.
New: @RahmEmanuel, headed to NH and SC this week, is prepping a presidential campaign that’s a rolling rebuke of his own party. Can he really win in 2028? He sees a weak field.

Rahm Emmanuel is clearly running to be the Clintonesque savior of the party, and he is saying all the right things…for independents. I suspect that business Democrats are keeping an eye on him, hoping he gains traction, because all the other candidates seem like losers and enemies to them.
.@RahmEmanuel comments here are a version of basically every focus group I saw after 2024. He’s right
The most successful Dem midterm cycle of my career was the one he ran. We won in places Dems hadn’t won in decades – which is the opportunity this cycles. https://t.co/jpUkbYYDC5

Emmanuel is a party insider who has some levers to pull. His ties to the Clinton and Obama camps are obviously useful, and I am certain that the hedge fund class would be happy with him because he is smart and savvy.
But the Bernie Sanders/AOC/Mamdani socialists hate him and his kind. He is not a revolutionary, and revolution is where it is at. Democrats haven’t had a fair primary system in three election cycles, but a new, alternative political infrastructure has been created by billionaires to push the socialist agenda. It may be even more powerful than the DNC, now.
The No Kings people have money pouring in from literal communists in China and elsewhere. Can the DNC compete with that?
New:
The RNC has nearly a 7-to-1 money advantage over the DNC, which has more debt than cash on hand.
And the huge disparity between DNC and RNC finances could have major consequences in 2026:
The Supreme Court is weighing a move to raise caps on how much money political…

Probably not with Ken Martin in charge. Already, key DNC members like Randi Weingarten have bailed, disgusted with the party. Donors looked at 2024 and feel burned.
So all is not sweetness and light for the Democrats. Especially with a new face for the Republican Party in 2028. Vance and Rubio are the heirs apparent, with Rubio suddenly looking in a very strong position to challenge Vance, should he so choose.
In the short term, electorally, the Democrats are in pretty good shape. But unless they change radically, the long term looks pretty awful for them.
Editor’s note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
