Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian accidentally makes a great case for immigration enforcement.
“As the son of an undocumented immigrant (my mom overstayed an au pair visa for years before marrying my dad, a U.S. citizen), it’s deeply personal: Reddit wouldn’t exist if [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] had come for her,” Ohanian wrote on X, Oct. 7.
Ohanian’s heartfelt admission of his mother’s criminality was provoked by the musing of computer scientist Paul Graham: “Later we’ll find it hard to believe that masked thugs were dragging people off the street at gunpoint. At least I hope we will, since the other alternative would be to decline into the kind of country where that’s normal.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: ICE Nabs Nearly 100 Illegal Migrant Truckers As Admin Cracks Down On Industry)
Later, I hope we find it hard to believe that half (if not more) of the American political establishment dedicated themselves to resettling America with illegal aliens.
As the son of an undocumented immigrant (my mom overstayed an au pair visa for years before marrying my dad, a U.S. citizen), it’s deeply personal: Reddit wouldn’t exist if ICE had come for her.
I do think border security matters. But it shouldn’t come at the cost of crushing… https://t.co/oNpk4ZU7HW

As for Reddit’s contributions to America — What, hosting forums for female genital mutilation fetishists?
Hosting subreddits like the (unfortunately real) example above would warrant slightly less criticism had Reddit not devoted itself to censoring most right-of-crazy thought.
Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman admitted he edited multiple user comments posted to the r/The_Donald subreddit. R/The_Donald was dedicated to President Donald Trump. Users generally had a positive perception of Trump. It has been banned since June 29, 2020.

“I f*cked up. I ruined Thanksgiving. I’m sorry. I won’t do it again. We are taking a more aggressive stance against toxic users and poorly behaving communities,” Huffman wrote in Nov. 2016, after users compiled evidence of Huffman editing comments.
R/The_Donald is one of many subreddits to be shuttered by Reddit higher-ups.
Reddit moderators are famously intolerant of comments which run afoul of liberal orthodoxy. They have a particular obsession with excising “transphobia” from the platform.

Glance at the r/Christianity subreddit for an example of the change in tone.
The subreddit was founded in 2008. A screen capture from 2012 displays the subreddit’s icon: the reddit mascot wearing a cross on his chest, an ichthys (or “Jesus fish”) next to him. Today, the subreddit’s icon is a cartoon of rainbow stained glass surrounding a cross. The banner at the top of the subreddit displays a photo of Martin Luther King and others at a march.
The top posts, when one sorts by “best,” are a Rachel Maddow clip and a user mocking the man who brought a cross with wheels to Charlie Kirk’s memorial.
Reddit co-founder Ohanian stepped away from Reddit in June 2020 in an act of deluded racial sacrifice.
“It is long overdue to do the right thing. I’m doing this for me, for my family, and for my country,” he wrote in a thread on then-Twitter.
“I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?’” Ohanian is married to tennis star Serena Williams. Williams suffers from her own racial delusions. (RELATED: Serena Williams Stirs Up Debate After Trying To Call Out Seemingly Simple Decoration At Hotel)
“I’ve resigned as a member of the reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate, + I will use future gains on my Reddit stock to serve the black community, chiefly to curb racial hate, and I’m starting with a pledge of $1M to [Colin Kaepernick’s] [Know Your Rights Camp],” he said.
You see, the children of some immigrants do the jobs Americans refuse to do: Slinging racially charged vitriol at white Americans.
