President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders Tuesday aimed at revitalizing the U.S. coal industry and strengthening domestic energy independence.

The move marks a return to Trump’s “American Energy Dominance” agenda and reflects his administration’s broader effort to bring back jobs and manufacturing that declined under Joe Biden.

The new executive actions are designed to reverse multiple Biden-era regulations, particularly those targeting coal production and fossil fuel energy.

Joe Biden promised, “No one is going to build another coal plant in America.”

According to the Trump administration, the orders will:

  • Reinvigorate the U.S. coal industry
  • Lift restrictions on coal-fired power plants imposed during the Biden-Harris administration
  • Strengthen the electric grid’s reliability and security
  • Shield American energy production from state-level regulations enacted by left-leaning governments
  • Expedite the leasing process for coal mining operations on federal lands

Among those in attendance was Tony Campbell, CEO of East Kentucky Power Cooperative, who spoke about the importance of coal in maintaining grid stability and applauded the administration’s decision to ease regulatory burdens.

Campbell’s remarks were echoed by the group of coal miners present at the event, who cheered the new orders.

President Trump praised the workers and acknowledged their role in powering the nation.

“For 4 long years, Joe Biden tried to abolish the American coal industry. They did everything in their power… while he was awake, which wasn’t much… shutting down dozens of coal plants,” Trump said, drawing laughter from the audience.

In a lighthearted moment, Trump signed a copy of remarks provided by one of the coal miners and joked that it might be worth something in the future.

He also emphasized that the administration’s energy plans are not limited to coal.

Trump said nuclear and other affordable energy sources will be considered as part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on foreign energy.

Trump’s latest move comes amid falling oil prices and a national average gas price that has declined from levels seen under the Biden-Harris administration.

The White House stated that these developments are part of a larger effort to restore domestic energy production and reverse the effects of energy policies implemented over the previous four years.

The executive orders reflect Trump’s continued focus on securing energy independence, reducing regulatory red tape, and bringing energy-sector jobs back to American workers.

The administration believes that reestablishing a strong domestic energy base is essential not only for economic growth but also for national security.

In addition to targeting coal industry regulations, the orders will prioritize federal leasing for mining operations and accelerate project approvals in areas historically used for coal extraction.

Trump officials said this will make it easier for companies to begin operations on federal lands without prolonged delays from environmental litigation or bureaucratic hurdles.

Trump concluded the ceremony by reinforcing his broader vision for U.S. energy policy.

“We will look into every form of affordable energy. Nuclear, coal, everything. Whatever it takes to get it done,” he said.

The orders take immediate effect and are expected to initiate policy changes at the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of the Interior in the coming weeks.
