‘Complete BS’: Left Goes Nuclear Over Chuck’s Cave

And just like that … all of the supposed momentum from Tuesday’s elections vanished.

Senate Democrats folded like a cheap suit last night, and literally no one believes otherwise than perhaps Chuck Schumer himself. Everyone on the Right knows that they folded under pressure created by the consequences of their own actions. The Left isn’t even attempting to spin it, thanks to the efforts of Bernie Sanders, who didn’t even allow Schumer a fig leaf by which to spin the end to this 40-day debacle. Sanders ranted on the Senate floor last night about “authoritarianism,” which presumably proceeds from a vote for funding the government and returning control of appropriations to Congress:

🚨 Bernie Sanders just unloaded on both parties:

It would be a horrific mistake to cave to Trump right now.

If Democrats vote for this deal, they’re giving him a green light to march straight toward authoritarianism. pic.twitter.com/EKFvHBMFcU

Just in case that didn’t rile up progressives enough, Sanders followed up immediately with another blast at the Senate Democrats who stopped playing chicken with air-traffic control and SNAP beneficiaries:

Bat Signal sent. Bat Signal received, according to Axios. The meltdown has been spectacular, and the progressive Left that Schumer manipulated with the his shutdown are “furious.” Even the centrists are disgusted:

Progressive groups were even more strident in their criticism, arguing that the Senate Democrats voting for the deal took all the wrong lessons from last Tuesday’s election results.

  • “Make no mistake, as some Senate Democrats consider surrender, Republicans are losing this fight,” Indivisible’s Levin said in his statement.
  • MoveOn spokesperson Joel Payne said the deal will “screw over millions of working Americans” and that “too many Democrats in Congress … are failing to listen to the clear message voters sent on Election Day.”

What we’re hearing: House Democrats’ text message chains lit up in anger Sunday as details of the deal began to trickle out into the public, with both progressive and centrist lawmakers venting fury, sources told Axios.

  • “People are furious,” a centrist House Democrat, speaking on the condition of anonymity to share details of internal discussions, told Axios. “It’s an awful deal and a total failure to use leverage for anything real.”
  • A progressive House Democrat said “people are pissed” and that it feels like Senate Democrats “got almost nothing. It seems like they are just tired.”

Allow me one correction: Democrats did not get “almost nothing.” They got nothing at all. As I explained in my post last night, the Senate would have taken up the ACA subsidies issue regardless of the shutdown. Schumer tried to use the shutdown to force them into concessions up front; the only thing that Schumer ended up getting was a vote that would have taken place anyway, with no concessions at all before negotiations — not even an agreement to bypass the filibuster. SNAP recipients would have gotten benefits all along without the shutdown, and nothing in this agreement changes those benefits at all. Rescinding Russ Vought’s “reductions in force” might be considered a concession, but they wouldn’t have happened at all if Schumer hadn’t enabled that option by shutting down the government.

Scott Jennings tried to explain this on CNN last week:

Right again. Called it on Tuesday night. Dems could’ve done this deal 35 days ago. Purely political. They hurt people for nothing other than politics. pic.twitter.com/cdcDS51BpC

We hate to say we told you so, but … naaah, we love to say we told you so.

You know who else told us so? Tim Kaine. The Senate Democrat from Virginia claimed he was too busy with elections in his state to get involved in efforts to find an “off ramp” before now. Salena Zito translates:

Oh boy he said the quiet part out loud. Politics before everything; before federal workers paychecks, before snap benefits, before air traffic safety. Democrats had this ability all along. https://t.co/4DutXMV4Kp

— ZitoSalena (@ZitoSalena) November 10, 2025

Worth noting: Tim Kaine was not on the ballot in Virginia. The state elections in Virginia had nothing to do with Kaine’s business in the Senate. However, Kaine made sure the Senate’s business had everything to do with the state elections in Virginia. Kaine and Schumer used the Schumer Shutdown to fire up the base and make it look as though Democrats had a clear agenda in this shutdown and leverage enough to accomplish the mission and make the gains worth the damage caused by the fight.

And then, five days later, Schumer and his caucus caved while getting nothing at all.

What next? All of that energy that Schumer hoped to direct at Trump has suddenly turned inward. This is why demagoguery is politically dangerous; it raises expectations that can never be fulfilled, and only the most adept can keep the rage that follows disillusionment pointed somewhere other than the people who created the problem in the first place. Schumer is one of the least adept leaders that the Democrats have elevated.

Pass the popcorn, and keep vigilant. This could get ugly, fast.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is still here — for the moment, anyway! Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
