A convicted human smuggler has admitted under federal immunity to hiring an El Salvadoran national for a series of human trafficking operations in the United States, according to court documents obtained by The Tennessee Star.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes, previously convicted of smuggling illegal immigrants and deported after serving a short sentence in 2020, told Department of Justice attorneys that he paid Kilmar Abrego Garcia to move illegal immigrants from Texas to other parts of the country.
Reyes made the admissions while in federal custody at the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega, Alabama.

The revelations follow a 2022 traffic stop conducted by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), which pulled over Abrego Garcia on November 30 for speeding and swerving.
Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers discovered eight undocumented male passengers and noted suspicious circumstances, including no luggage, a fake Maryland driver’s license, and $1,400 in cash on Abrego Garcia.
“He’s hauling these people for money,” one THP trooper stated in bodycam footage obtained by Fox News Digital through a public records request.
When questioned about the vehicle, Abrego Garcia told troopers it belonged to his “boss,” later confirmed to be Reyes.

Reyes had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to smuggle illegal immigrants in 2020 and was sentenced to 18 months in prison before being deported.
Despite a court order prohibiting his return to the U.S. for three years, he illegally re-entered the country and is now in custody again.
Reyes told DOJ officials that he met Abrego Garcia in 2015, three years after Abrego Garcia reportedly crossed into the United States illegally.
Since then, Reyes said he paid Abrego Garcia to smuggle immigrants from Texas to various destinations across the country.

During the 2022 stop, all passengers gave the same destination address as Abrego Garcia and claimed to be en route for “construction work.”
The absence of luggage and possession of large amounts of cash were flagged as indicators of human trafficking. Abrego Garcia was taken into custody by THP, which contacted the FBI.
According to The Tennessee Star, the Biden-era FBI instructed THP to release him.
Abrego Garcia, who was deported by the Trump administration in March, has claimed the removal violated his 2019 immigration case, which included a “withholding of removal” that barred deportation to El Salvador or Guatemala.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the THP troopers who stopped Abrego Garcia suspected him of human trafficking at the time of the arrest.
Reyes, during his earlier conviction, was documented as charging $350 per person to transport immigrants from Texas to other states.
ICE did not respond to inquiries about the case.
