Country Music Artist Alexis Wilkins Refuses to ‘Bend the Knee’ to Industry Pressure of Removing American Flag [WATCH]

Country music artist and conservative commentator Alexis Wilkins says she has faced pressure from within the music industry to remove the American flag from her social media profile, as reported by Fox News.

Wilkins told Fox News Digital that the experience strengthened her resolve to speak openly about her conservative values and refusal to “bend the knee.”

Wilkins explained that she was not politically outspoken before college, but a classroom experience shifted her perspective. “I was given an F in a class that I have only ever gotten A’s in my life because of my politics,” she said.

She recalled that the professor required students to write papers critical of the Trump administration. Wilkins said her refusal to do so led to the failing grade.

“When he gave that to me just simply for not going along with the status quo, not writing the papers that denigrated the actions of the Trump administration that I was being asked to write as part of curricula, that was the point where I said, ‘okay, it looks like me not saying that I’m a liberal means that I am a conservative’ anyway, so I’m willing to draw a line in the sand and I think it’s time in this country that we did,” Wilkins said.

Although Wilkins noted that country music often welcomes patriotic voices, she described pressures from parts of the industry that conflicted with her beliefs.

“I was told to take an American flag out of my Instagram bio, or that I had to support certain things or do certain things in order to get booked on tours, in order to get signed to a label. There are things that ultimately have to give up, and I wasn’t willing to do that and bend the knee to that,” she said.

She added that industry figures suggested her display of the American flag could be interpreted as partisan. “The industry and some figureheads in the industry were just saying that me having an American flag in my bio was going to be seen as partisan,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins pushed back on the idea, saying it was “ridiculous” to suggest that pride in the nation should be viewed as a political statement. She also recalled being warned during the 2016 election cycle that even associating with veterans organizations could be considered partisan.

Despite the pressures, Wilkins has continued to align her music career with what she describes as “fundamentally American” principles. “It was things that were fundamentally American and things that I wasn’t willing to compromise on,” she said.

Her decision to resist industry expectations has now become a defining point in her public career, reinforcing her image as both a country artist and outspoken conservative voice.
