Federal authorities have charged seven men in connection with a string of burglaries targeting professional athletes, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, star tight end Travis Kelce, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

As reported by The Blaze, the thieves, who authorities say are part of an organized South American crime ring, made off with millions in stolen goods, including high-end jewelry, designer luggage, and cold hard cash.

Among those charged are Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez, and Sergio Cabello, all of whom were allegedly involved in robbing Burrow’s home.

They reportedly stole expensive diamond chains and Louis Vuitton luggage. Reports indicate that all four men are illegal immigrants from Chile.

The burglary at Burrow’s home first came to light when Olivia Ponton, a 23-year-old Sports Illustrated model, reported the incident while she was at his residence. It didn’t take long for authorities to link the suspects to additional high-profile robberies across professional sports.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) walks for the locker room after the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 13 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024. The Steelers won 44-38.

The other three suspects—Pablo Zuniga Cartes, Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, and Bastian Jimenez Freraut—were also identified as Chilean nationals, though their immigration status remains unclear.

These men were caught on camera posing with a safe and jewelry allegedly stolen from NBA star Bobby Portis. The loot included watches, chains, wads of cash, designer bags, and an expensive suitcase.

Portis, a forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, publicly confirmed in November 2024 that he had been robbed of valuable possessions.

According to ABC News, FBI investigators revealed that the suspects are part of a larger South American crime network that has looted over $2 million worth of items.

The men, aged between 20 and 38, now face federal charges in Florida for conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property, each carrying a potential 10-year prison sentence.

Investigators have connected this crime ring to additional burglaries involving athletes from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Memphis Grizzlies, though the identities of those players remain undisclosed.

Authorities noted that the thieves operated with a “clear and consistent modus operandi,” tracking athletes’ schedules and waiting for opportune moments to strike.

Their break-in methods included smashing windows or prying open sliding doors with crowbars, often capturing their crimes on surveillance footage.

In Florida, some of the burglars rented vehicles and parked them near the crime scenes, a move that helped law enforcement tie them to the break-ins.

The scheme didn’t stop with the robbers—an unnamed New York pawn shop owner is also facing charges for selling stolen goods linked to these crimes.

This takedown comes on the heels of another high-profile robbery involving soccer star Olivier Giroud, whose Los Angeles home was recently burglarized.

Other sports figures who have fallen victim to similar crimes include NHL player Evgeni Malkin, who had his three Stanley Cup rings stolen in January, and NBA standout Luka Doncic, whose Dallas residence was ransacked in December 2024.
