On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump signed a presidential memorandum ordering the immediate declassification of all FBI files related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
This investigation, which has been a central focus of Trump’s criticism, was launched in 2016 and aimed to uncover alleged ties between Trump’s presidential campaign and Russian officials.
Trump has consistently described the investigation as politically motivated and corrupt.

The announcement was made by White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf, who presented the memorandum for Trump’s signature.
The directive requires federal agencies to release all documents related to the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign and its purported Russian connections.
The investigation has been widely criticized as an abuse of government power by many of Trump’s supporters and political allies.
“This was total weaponization,” Trump stated following the signing of the memorandum.
“It’s a disgrace. It never happened in this country. But now you’ll be able to see for yourselves, all declassified.”

Scharf confirmed that the memorandum includes all FBI files, with the exception of materials related to a separate annex. “Other than that, this will put everything in the public eye,” Scharf explained.
Trump did not hold back in his criticism of federal law enforcement, specifically the FBI and the Department of Justice.
“The FBI should be ashamed of themselves, and so should the Department of Justice, and so should Biden,” Trump added, addressing the media.
“You probably won’t bother [to read them] because you’re not going to like what you see.”

The Crossfire Hurricane investigation, which was initiated under the Obama administration in July 2016, became a focal point of a years-long narrative pushed by Democrats and mainstream media.
This narrative claimed that Trump had colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.
However, that narrative collapsed after the Mueller report failed to uncover any evidence of a criminal conspiracy.
Further investigations, including the Durham investigation, uncovered significant misconduct, misrepresentations, and the use of discredited sources to justify surveillance on Trump campaign officials.
In a separate announcement made during the same meeting, President Trump also issued a pardon for Devon Archer, a former business associate of Hunter Biden.
Archer had testified before Congress about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
He had been convicted in a securities fraud case, but his prosecution took a sharp turn after he began cooperating with congressional investigators and publicly linking Hunter Biden to questionable overseas business activities.
Scharf explained that Archer’s prosecution was dramatically altered after his cooperation with investigators.
“The tone and tenor of that prosecution changed dramatically,” Scharf told the president.
“We believe that was an injustice.”
Trump, after reviewing the case, agreed with the assessment, stating, “He was treated very unfairly. I looked at the records, studied the records—and he was a victim of a crime, as far as I’m concerned.” Upon signing the pardon, Trump added with a touch of humor, “Congratulations, Devon.”

Both actions—the full declassification of what Trump has called a “witch hunt” and the pardon for Archer, who helped expose potential corruption involving the Biden family—represent a bold stance by Trump’s newly inaugurated administration.
Archer is well known for his involvement with Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company, where both he and Hunter Biden served on the board of directors starting in 2014.
Archer has been at the center of controversy due to his business ties with Hunter and the Biden family’s alleged use of political connections for financial gain.
These issues were central to congressional investigations, particularly among House Republicans, who have been probing possible influence-peddling by the Bidens.
In 2023, Archer testified behind closed doors to the House Oversight Committee, stating that Hunter Biden would occasionally put his father on speakerphone during business meetings to impress clients.
This testimony further fueled concerns about potential conflicts of interest and corruption at the highest levels of the Biden family.
