A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper uncovered a human-smuggling operation on U.S. 90 in Kinney County after stopping a black Cadillac XT5 driven by a San Antonio woman.

Authorities said the driver was transporting four illegal aliens, including two children from Belize, toward stash-house destinations in Texas and Florida.

Texas DPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez posted video of the traffic stop on social media, outlining how the case unfolded.

According to Olivarez, the trooper was working under Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star when he became suspicious of possible alien smuggling activity during the stop.

After initiating the traffic stop in Kinney County, the trooper questioned the occupants of the Cadillac.

During the encounter, authorities determined that the passengers were in the United States illegally and appeared to have crossed the border without being apprehended by Border Patrol agents.

One of the passengers, identified as an illegal alien from Honduras, admitted to paying $10,000 to be smuggled into the United States.

He told authorities that his intended destination was a stash house in Florida.

Another passenger, identified as a Belizean citizen, told the trooper she was traveling to a stash house in San Antonio.

She was accompanied by her two children, ages 6 and 8, according to Olivarez.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Georgina De Hoyos of San Antonio.

The trooper arrested De Hoyos on four counts of alien smuggling.

Olivarez commended the trooper’s actions following the arrest.

“Outstanding investigative work by our trooper — identifying the smuggling operation and ensuring the safe recovery of two young children,” Olivarez wrote.

The arrest took place in Kinney County, a region that has seen increased enforcement activity as part of Operation Lone Star.

The state-led initiative was launched by Governor Abbott to address illegal immigration and related criminal activity along the Texas border.

According to DPS, troopers assigned to Operation Lone Star have been deployed to assist in detecting and disrupting human smuggling operations that move illegal aliens from the border into the interior of Texas and other states.

Authorities said the Kinney County stop is another example of how smugglers attempt to move individuals deeper into the country after they have crossed the border.

Despite what officials describe as sustained enforcement pressure along the border, DPS reports that smugglers continue attempting to transport illegal aliens beyond initial crossing points.

The agency stated that these arrests demonstrate that some individuals are slipping past initial Border Patrol detection and are then transported through Texas toward destinations in other states.

The case also highlights the use of passenger vehicles in smuggling operations, including routes along major highways such as U.S. 90.

DPS officials said troopers remain alert for indicators of smuggling during routine traffic stops, including inconsistent travel plans and suspicious behavior among occupants.

Following the arrest, authorities reported that the four illegal aliens were taken into custody.

The two children involved in the case were identified as being 6 and 8 years old.

DPS continues to emphasize its role in supporting border enforcement efforts through Operation Lone Star, with troopers conducting patrols, traffic stops, and investigations in counties along key transportation corridors.

Officials say those efforts remain focused on identifying smuggling activity and preventing illegal transportation operations within the state.
