Project Veritas released undercover footage on Wednesday that appears to show Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg and a former Biden White House staffer acknowledging that First Lady Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff, Anthony Bernal, exerted significant behind-the-scenes control within the Biden-Harris administration.
The video, titled Part One of an ongoing investigation, features covertly recorded conversations between Hogg and Project Veritas journalists, as well as former White House Office of Digital Strategy staffer Deterrian Jones.
According to the footage, both individuals admitted that Bernal, a longtime adviser to Jill Biden, played a key role in guiding internal operations at the White House.

“Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff [Anthony Bernal] had an enormous amount of power,” Hogg said during the conversation, further adding that “the bigger issue was the inner circle that was around Biden.”
Hogg’s remarks suggest that decision-making within the Biden-Harris administration may have been more concentrated among close aides than publicly known.
In the same report, Deterrian Jones described Bernal as a “shadowy, wizard of oz-type figure” and admitted that staffers were wary of his presence.
“That was an open secret. I would avoid him. He was scary,” Jones said.

The Project Veritas video focuses on claims that Bernal and a “tight-knit inner circle” surrounding Joe Biden were effectively running the administration from behind the scenes.
The footage also includes an exchange in which a Project Veritas undercover journalist asked Hogg, “How corrupt is the DNC if so many knew or few people knew about Biden?”
Hogg responded by again pointing to the power of those in Biden’s immediate orbit, specifically mentioning Bernal.
Jones, who worked directly within the White House’s digital operations team, reinforced the claim, stating that Bernal’s influence was well-known among staff and that his presence made others uncomfortable.
Bernal has served as a close aide to Jill Biden since her time as Second Lady and has remained a central figure in her office throughout the Biden presidency.
His role has included advising on a range of administrative and political matters. However, according to the statements recorded by Project Veritas, his responsibilities may have extended well beyond traditional duties associated with a First Lady’s chief of staff.
The footage raises questions about who was actually steering major decisions during Biden’s presidency.
Both Hogg and Jones, as shown in the video, point to Bernal’s significant influence as being more than ceremonial, describing a situation in which top-level decisions were guided or executed by staffers surrounding the president.

Project Veritas has indicated that this is only the first installment in what it describes as a multi-part investigation into the internal operations and power dynamics of the Biden-Harris administration.
Additional footage or statements may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
The release comes as scrutiny over President Biden’s cognitive fitness and transparency within his administration continues to grow.
Lawmakers and oversight groups may now face increased pressure to investigate the scope of Bernal’s authority and the level of influence wielded by White House staff during Biden’s term.
