DC Israeli Embassy Shooter Tied to Marxist Group Linked to China and Hamas [WATCH]

The man charged with murdering two Israeli embassy employees outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday has ties to a far-left Marxist group with links to the Chinese Communist Party and a history of justifying terrorist violence against Israel.

Federal and local law enforcement officials charged 31-year-old Elias Rodriguez with murder following the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers, identified by Israeli officials as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim.

The couple, who were dating and planning to marry, were both shot in the back at close range as they left a private event at the museum.

After the shooting, Rodriguez reportedly entered the museum and asked that the police be called.

According to court documents, he told responding officers, “I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza, I am unarmed.”

Video footage later surfaced showing Rodriguez chanting “Free, Free Palestine!”

Authorities say Rodriguez has longstanding ties to radical leftist organizations, including the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a revolutionary Marxist group that has defended Hamas and maintained close connections to China’s communist regime and Cuba.

PSL released a statement following Hamas’s October 7, 2023 terrorist attack that left over 1,200 Israeli civilians dead, calling it a “bold counter-offensive” and stating it was “not terrorism.”

Rodriguez was previously profiled in a 2017 Liberation News article—published by PSL’s media wing—where he appeared at an anti-capitalist protest holding signage from the ANSWER Coalition, another radical group closely affiliated with PSL.

Though PSL later claimed Rodriguez was not a current member, they acknowledged his “brief association” with one of their branches in 2017.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has flagged PSL as an extremist organization. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt told CNN, “The ADL Center on Extremism monitors extremist groups, like the Party for Socialism and Liberation, or PSL, that this man was associated with. That is an anti-capitalist, anti-Western, and anti-Zionist group that regularly employs antisemitic rhetoric.”

Rodriguez also appeared in fundraising posts by the ANSWER Coalition in 2017, where the group sought donations to send him to the “People’s Congress of Resistance,” a conference hosted at Howard University to mobilize against then-President Donald Trump’s economic policies.

Both PSL and the ANSWER Coalition are linked to a larger activist network supported by Neville Roy Singham, a pro-CCP businessman currently based in Shanghai. Singham funds various protest groups through The People’s Forum, which has been tied to recent anti-Israel demonstrations across New York college campuses.

According to the Network Contagion Research Institute, which investigates foreign influence operations, The People’s Forum and its affiliates are heavily involved in organizing the Shut It Down for Palestine (SID4P) movement.

Forum Director Manolo De Los Santos was recently seen at multiple student-led protests throughout New York.

Singham, a former software entrepreneur and self-described Marxist, sold his company for $785 million in 2017 and redirected his wealth into nonprofits that promote political “education” aligned with socialist and pro-China ideology.

The New York Times previously reported that Singham is involved in disseminating Chinese state messaging and funding outlets like Newsclick in India.

Concerns about Singham’s influence and funding of U.S.-based groups prompted Senators Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham to urge the Department of Justice in July 2023 to investigate potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

In a follow-up letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, the senators cited the role these groups played in pro-Hamas demonstrations and antisemitic riots following the October 7 attacks.

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) responded to Wednesday’s shooting by calling for further investigation into the financial networks behind these protests.

“Every single one of these groups and their funding should be investigated immediately,” Cornyn wrote on X.

“This attack goes beyond antisemitism. We must know if this is domestic terrorism.”

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have not publicly confirmed whether they are pursuing additional leads related to the broader network of radical protest groups following the incident.
