Joe Biden made a public appearance in Delaware on Wednesday, delivering remarks at a Memorial Day-themed event less than two weeks after his office confirmed he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
The event marked Biden’s return to the public stage following the diagnosis announcement.
During his speech, Biden appeared to struggle at times with coherence and clarity.

At one point, he seemed to lose track of the wording of the Declaration of Independence.
The event also included several trademark moments of Biden raising his voice and shifting into what critics have often called the “Angry Joe” tone.
Following the speech, Biden held an impromptu press gaggle with reporters. During that exchange, questions ranged from generic to personal, with one male reporter drawing attention online for what appeared to be a soft, glowing prompt rather than a question.
“I feel like everybody didn’t know what to expect with you today. And then you get here and you’re speaking powerfully. You look good. You’re confident. What do you say to all those people? Don’t count you out?” the reporter asked.

Biden responded without addressing the question directly.
Another moment from the gaggle drew attention when a female journalist asked the former president why it was important for him to attend the event.
In response, Biden leaned in close to the reporter’s face and began speaking in a whispering voice, a behavior frequently noted during his time in office.
The reporter’s expression during the interaction circulated widely online, reigniting discussions over Biden’s interaction style with members of the press.
During the gaggle, Biden spoke briefly about his ongoing cancer treatment and the outlook for his recovery.
“The expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this,” he said.
“The prognosis is good.”
He also stated that one of his surgeons had previously faced the same diagnosis.
“He was diagnosed with the same exact thing 32 years ago,” Biden said, adding that the physician was still “alive and well, doing very well.”
However, some of Biden’s statements appeared to contradict earlier information released by his office.
During the press exchange, Biden claimed that the cancer had not “penetrated” his bones.

This comment stood in contrast to the original public announcement, which stated he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

There has been no official clarification yet regarding the apparent discrepancy.
A statement from Biden’s communications team may follow to address the inconsistency.
Biden’s appearance comes as questions continue to circulate regarding his health and public role following the end of his term in office.
His latest remarks are expected to be reviewed closely as the public and media continue monitoring updates related to his condition.
