A former Biden White House official admitted to Fox News host Harris Faulkner on Monday that Democrats had no idea how to talk to centrist voters.
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas claimed in a video posted on X Saturday that Democratic donors were lined up behind “the safest white boy” for the 2028 presidential campaign. After saying Crockett “never gets less offensive,” Faulkner asked former Biden administration official Meghan Hays about the left-wing representative’s comments. “I think the Democrats did not know how to speak to middle America and didn’t know how to speak to moderate Democrats and what we find here. I agree with the congressman in the sound clip you had a few minutes ago we need to figure out how to talk to moderates we need to figure out how to energize the rest of the country,” Hays said. “Most of the country is moderate and – they don’t identify with the MAGA Republicans or the very progressive far left. They are in the middle. If they want to win elections in the mid-terms and 2028 cycle, they have to figure out how to talk to the moderate Democrats and Republicans in the middle of the country. It has nothing to do with gender, it’s about policy.”

Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg announced plans to raise money to primary some incumbent Democrats in April, drawing fire from other Democratic leaders before he agreed to donate $100,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Faulkner asked Hays why Democrats seemed “heck-bent” on “dividing people by race and gender.”
“I don’t think that that’s what the Democratic Party is trying to do. I don’t think that at all. Vice President Harris was a black woman who was the vice president,” Hays said before Faulker added, “Who Jasmine Crockett apparently thinks could never win because she is not white and male. Look, I’m just saying what she’s saying.”
“I hear that, and I think that she is one part of the Democratic Party. I don’t think that’s where the majority of the party is. That is not where my friends are, that is not where my colleagues were and I don’t think that’s actually true,” Hays responded. “The Democratic Party needs to focus on the economy and continue to talk about the economy and continue to talk about the economy and go back to the base of working for middle class America.” (RELATED: Left-Wing Dem Gives Blunt Assessment Of AOC As Potential Party Leader)
Hays also took issue with Democratic strategist James Carville suggesting that left-wing Democrats like Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota should leave the party.
“You should have all sorts of views. But that’s not what’s gonna win in 2026 and 2028,” Hays said. “Most of the country is moderate. You can see that in the polling and in the 2020 election and in the 2024 election.”
