Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell vowed to revoke the driver’s licenses of federal immigration officers and called them “assholes” during a gubernatorial forum over the weekend.
Swalwell made the remarks Saturday at the Empowerment Congress California Governor Forum in Los Angeles, the New York Post reported. The congressman is running to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“They’re going to lose their immunity, they’re not gonna be able to drive. I will take your driver’s license. Good luck walking to work, assholes,” Swalwell said. (RELATED: Eric Swalwell Announces California Governor Run On Jimmy Kimmel, One Week After Mortgage Fraud Referral)
The California Democrat also pledged to use local law enforcement against federal agents. “I will direct law enforcement to use every power to prosecute [ICE officers] for battery, false imprisonment and murder,” Swalwell said. “There’s only one side of the ball to be on, on behalf of Californians when it comes to ICE, and it’s offense.”

“Fang Fang’s former lover wants to give drivers licenses to criminal illegal aliens and simultaneously punish law enforcement officers for enforcing the law?” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News. The comment referenced Swalwell’s past connection to a suspected Chinese spy who worked on his congressional campaign.
Legal experts told Fox News that Swalwell lacks the authority to carry out his threat due to federal supremacy over state law.
The congressman has repeatedly attacked ICE in recent months. He previously compared agents to “KGB officers” and called them “terrorizing bandits.”
Swalwell and Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman introduced legislation earlier this month to strip ICE officers of qualified immunity protections, The Hill reported. They introduced the bill two days after an ICE agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis.
