Former Democratic California Rep. Katie Porter refused to say whether or not additional videos showing her delivering tirades against staffers or others existed during a Tuesday interview.
Porter, who is running to replace Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, faced criticism after videos of her threatening to walk out of an interview and berating staffers surfaced. “Inside California Politics” host Nikki Laurenzo asked Porter if more videos would come to light. “Can voters be confident that there won’t be another one of those videos that come to light?” Laurenzo asked Porter about the video of her shouting at a staffer who inadvertently entered the shot, who responded, “What I do know is that I could have done better in that situation.”

“But that’s not a no, so is there potentially another video that we are going to see?” Laurenzo asked, with Porter responding, “Nikki, I’m going to be honest with you. I know that video, and that video is several years ago, as you know, [I] apologized to the staffer; it’s super important to me and will continue to hold myself to do better.”
In the resurfaced 2021 video, which came from a chat Porter had with then-Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, the staffer entered the shot in the middle of the conversation.
“Get out of my fucking shot!” Porter yelled at the staffer, who tried to correct her on a policy item, with Porter responding, “You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot.”
Porter’s ex-husband, Matthew Hoffman, accused her of dumping hot mashed potatoes on his head in court documents filed during their 2013 divorce, according to the Daily Mail, while also detailing alleged instances of verbal abuse.
Porter is currently the front-runner for the June 2026 open primary, securing 18% of the vote according to the RealClearPolling average, while Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco receives 11% of the vote and former Fox News personality Steve Hilton garners 8.7% of the vote. The polls cited in the RealClearPolling average were all taken before the videos of Porter’s apparent meltdowns surfaced.
