NewsNation host Chris Cuomo issued a fiery response to online critics during his Tuesday podcast, pushing back against viewers who attacked President Donald Trump and warned Democrats against doubling down on the same strategy that failed in the last election cycle.
During the June 25 episode of The Chris Cuomo Project, Cuomo reacted to comments left on the June 19 episode titled, “The Two Iran Questions That Will DEFINE Trump’s Presidency.” Several viewers criticized Trump’s negotiating abilities, prompting Cuomo to respond in a segment that centered on what he described as Democrats’ obsession with attacking the president rather than offering substantive alternatives.
“I said he sees himself as a dealmaker. He wants to make deals. That’s where his head is. That’s where he sees success. He is not a hawk in the traditional sense. He does not believe in ‘might makes right’ through military as we have seen in the past,” Cuomo said.

He then addressed Trump’s business record, conceding criticism of the president’s past ventures while still acknowledging his political success.
“Is he successful in business? Hell no. Except in selling his name as a marketing guy, which he has a very specific kind of genius with. You got to give it to him. That guy is president of the United States 2X, okay? And should have never happened.”
Cuomo said Trump forged a political bond with voters who felt alienated by the political establishment.
“So what did he do? He attached and became an affinity play for people he has nothing in common with. He adopted their outrage and sold it back to them. And now you can say he doesn’t know how to make a deal, but that’s a deal right there.”

Regarding foreign policy, Cuomo said Trump did not personally negotiate deals but had the ability to direct others to do so, pointing specifically to the temporary ceasefire Trump helped broker between Iran and Israel.
“Do I think he made a deal with the regime? No. But he got the two sides to make a ceasefire because the regime is afraid that we were going to bomb them out of existence,” Cuomo said.
He then described the ceasefire as “a win.”
Cuomo addressed Trump critics directly, saying, “You can say no, but you’re just a player hater. And I don’t give a fuck how many likes you get on your comments by hating Trump, because it doesn’t win the race. You get 42, 44%. That’s what just happened. ‘Trump sucks’ doesn’t win the race.”
He warned Democrats that continuing to rely on outrage and criticism without offering real solutions would not be effective in 2028.
“You keep doing the same thing — which is just pound on this fucking guy, which is easy enough to do, but you don’t win the race.”
Cuomo added, “Now what you’re doing is doubling down on ‘Trump sucks’ by outrage and making your own MAGA. I don’t think it’s going to work for Democrats. I think you’re making a mistake paying attention to [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] AOC and this new deference to radical left and radical fundamentalist and radical Islamist sympathies. I think it’s a huge fucking mistake.”
He concluded by warning that Democrats were again prioritizing niche issues over broader concerns: “You are once again valuing the few over the many. And if you think trans sports got you in a pickle, you’re about to be in a whole bucket of brine.”
Cuomo’s commentary aligned with similar remarks made by entrepreneur Mark Cuban on Pod Save America earlier in the week.
Cuban said Democrats were too focused on attacking Trump rather than offering concrete improvements for Americans.
“It’s just ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do,” Cuban said on the June 23 episode.
“‘Trump sucks.’ Trump says the sky is blue. ‘Trump sucks.’”
Cuban added, “That’s not the way to win! It’s just not! Because it’s not about Trump — it’s about the people of the United States of America — and what’s good for them! And how do you get them to a place where they’re in a better position and it’s less stressful for them.”
