President Donald Trump’s name appears in emails from Jeffrey Epstein, released by lawmakers Wednesday. Democrats initially made three emails public, all of which pertained to Trump, before the GOP-led House Oversight Committee released another 20,000-plus pages of emails. Democrats have mined the emails for evidence proving Trump conspired with the convicted sex offender to abuse women and girls. They’ve had to resort to grasping at straws.
For instance, in a 2019 email, Epstein alleges that Trump “knew about the girls.” The full sentence reads: “of course he knew about the girls as he asked [G]hislaine [Maxwell] to stop.” Hardly the nail in the coffin Democrats were hoping to find, though a possible inconsistency with Trump denying any awareness of Epstein’s criminal conduct.
