Democrats See Nazis Everywhere

Let me ask you a question: if Pravda Media reporters challenged Democrats every time they compared Republicans to Nazis, how long before the Democrats tried a less insane tactic?

My prediction is that it would happen quickly. 

As annoying as it is to be compared to Nazis, it’s not hard to see why Democrats keep doing it. The media encourages them to. 

Texas State Democrat Rep. Jolanda Jones just compared her Texas redistricting to the Holocaust and the murder of 6 million Jews, and Don Lemon agreed.

Any time a Republican makes an accusation, fair or not, about the crazy ideological positions of Democrats, the “journalists” jump in to defend the Democrats. When Democrats screw up, the Republicans are “pouncing” and “seizing.” 

PolitiFact will write a long and detailed explanation defending Zohran Mamdani against charges that he is a communist, despite the fact that he quotes Marx on X, wants to “seize the means of production,” and eliminate private property. Yet if Mamdani or any Democrat accuses a Republican of being a Nazi, they nod along sagely, talking about threats to democracy. 

All this looks absurd to us, and we take comfort in the fact that “nobody takes the Pravda Media seriously anymore.” 

Only…that’s not true, both in general and often in the specifics. The Pravda Media remains influential, even among those who claim to mistrust it. 

First of all, they still have the privilege of determining the Overton Window in most cases, although Donald Trump has managed to expand it significantly. You never hear about “Far Left” groups or politicians, but everybody to the right of John McCain or Mitt Romney is “far right.” And when they were running for President, they, too, were far right. 

This influences the thinking of people who think of themselves as “centrists,” and who disdain the extremes in both parties. By defining the “extremes,” the media substantially shifts the Overton Window to the left. 

You have probably noticed that the information you get in alternative media differs dramatically from what Pravda Media shows you. The New York Times will print unsubstantiated claims by Hamas and print deceptive photos, and only a fraction of the country ever sees the full story. “Fact checkers” will “debunk” absolutely true claims–the Hunter Biden laptop is Russian disinformation!–and that can move a critical number of votes. 

All the ‘Nazi” talk is absurd, and even most people who hear it know that it is at best hyperbole, but the Democrats do it because the media wants to help them set the Overton Window. Few people think that Gerrymandering is Nazi-esque, but it sure sounds awful. 

Texas Democrats fled to Illinois to make their claim to being the French Resistance, and which media outlets are ridiculing them for going to one of the most ridiculously gerrymandered states in the nation? Instead, they portray them as freedom fighters. 

Which brings me to my point: the media, even more than the Democrats, are the true enemies we have to fight. If we were on a level playing field with this crop of Democrats, there would never be any contests in “competitive” districts, because Democrats are insane. 

As importantly, if the media held them accountable to even minimal standards of truth and reasonable levels of hyperbole, we would have better Democrats, and maybe even better Republicans. 

Currently, Democrats don’t have to be sane; in fact, the more insane the better in some cases. C.f. Zohran Mamdani. If PolitiFact actually told the truth that, yes, Mamdani is a communist or at least talks like one, Mamdani would have to explain himself, and Mamdani wouldn’t be a viable candidate for Mayor. 

Maybe somebody sane would be. 

Pravda Media still has the power to, at a minimum, police the left. They can no longer destroy the right because anybody who considers themselves a Republican hates the media already. But the left still needs those swing voters who take the media seriously when it comes to what is acceptable or not, and the media can highlight or suppress information. 

They are the truth’s real enemy.
