Elon Musk was a “Nazi” just six months ago.
That’s according to Democrats, who slammed the South African billionaire for performing a “Heil Hitler salute” following President Donald Trump’s inauguration. (RELATED: Elon Musk Has Left The Building, But He Helped Expose Democrats)
The Musk-Trump blowout has them singing a different tune.
For a quick run-down:
Musk tore into Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” for increasing the national deficit, calling it “debt slavery for the American people.” Trump responded in Trumpian fashion.
The president accused Musk of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and called his former ally “CRAZY” in a Truth Social Post. Musk then went nuclear, alleging to his 220.8 million X followers that Trump “is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”

Trump also spoke about Elon’s help in Pennsylvania and the EV tax credit.

There goes the Musk-MAGA coalition. And Trump’s Tesla. Democrats didn’t wait a moment to pounce, tripping over themselves to court their party’s former arch-nemesis.
“We should ultimately be trying to convince [Musk] that the Democratic Party has more of the values that he agrees with,” Khanna said, according to Politico, calling for a “dialogue” with the tech entrepreneur. “A commitment to science funding, a commitment to clean technology, a commitment to seeing international students like him.”
“We can be the party of sanctimonious lectures, or the party of [Franklin Delano Roosevelt] that knows how to win & build a progressive majority,” Khanna argued on X, fielding criticisms from other Democrats who oppose his welcome of Musk.
Khanna finds an ally in Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York.
“I’m a believer in redemption, and he is telling the truth about the legislation,” said Torres of Musk. Still, he doesn’t seem ready to offer that “redemption” just yet. Musk has “done an enormous amount of damage,” according to Torres, and “there are Democrats who see his decimation of the federal workforce and the federal government as an unforgivable sin.”
Indeed, for Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, it seems it’d take nothing short of a miracle to see her warm to Musk.
I can’t believe any Democrat would THINK of allying with Elon Musk.
I won’t take money from the guy who does a Hitler salute. It’s really that simple. pic.twitter.com/OTZLHlq75U

“We warned at every step that [the] GOP planned to do this. They SAID so. But y’all decided bullying trans people was more important than sensible energy policy,” she lectured Musk on X. “You supported it…I genuinely do not know what else you expected.”
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas planted her flag firmly in AOC territory. “Watching Trump and Elon fall out is like watching two thieves argue over who got caught on camera,” she posted on X. “Newsflash: it was both of y’all.”
The Musk-Trump feud and the content of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ are testing Republican alliances. MAGA was buoyed by the support of a motley crew who were more or less united by oppositions: to establishment Democrats, to establishment Republicans, to “woke,” etc. Their positive agenda items differed – sometimes dramatically, as exposed by Musk’s disdain for governmental spending. (RELATED: Meet The Republicans Standing Between Trump And His Big Beautiful Bill)
But the feud is also testing Democrats. Their divided reaction to the fallout is indicative of a fractured party. Khanna and Torres are all but telling their colleagues to ditch the hen-pecking tone and build a bigger tent. Crockett and Ocasio-Cortez are ringing the same sanctimonious bell as always.
One thing is certain: Musk finds himself with fewer friends than ever.
