No, I do not owe you for a new monitor after reading that and spitting your Starbucks or Mountain Dew (I don’t judge) all over it. It’s a for reals quote, I didn’t make it up, that makes it news, and I can’t help it if you think it’s so stunningly implausible you were involuntarily forced to spew liquid just by reading it.
Not my fault.
But that’s what the collective navel-gazing of the Democrat progressive brain trust has determined.
Democrats are trying to understand why young men keep voting GOP. @matthewichoi & @merica recap findings from a focus group, with several saying Democrats don’t have a masculine politician (except for Obama) in today’s #TheEarlyBrief: https://t.co/PQc0Lf5XJU

THIS is the most masculine thing anyone can think of representing the Democratic Party.
Michelle Obama says the least important thing a woman’s reproductive system does is produce life…
Don’t you just hate mansplaining?

OOPS, SORRY!
Wrong one.
THIS one.
Democrats are not masculine enough 🤷🏼♀️ pic.twitter.com/ZVjiQfWIrG

Welp.
Wow.
Who exactly were they talking to here, that Obama was the consensus for as masculine as identifiable Democrats get? I mean, that’s pretty much a tell in itself about the sad state of affairs.
It’s an item in a newsy little WaPo column which is headlined:
Have Republicans won young men?
I wouldn’t say so much Republicans ‘won’ them as it was Democrats who spat and stomped all over young guys, wadded them up, and threw them away. The ‘young men’ who form the basis of the polling statistics used in the story were 2020 Biden voters who all voted Trump in 2024.
And OMG, don’t they preface it with the usual progressive argle-bargle.
…Young men in swing states say the Democratic Party abandoned them, leaving them feeling helpless in providing for their families as prices rose and jobs evaporated. They felt no sympathy from the left, who they say brushed away their legitimate economic woes by citing their male privilege. They acknowledge historical patriarchy but assert that doesn’t make them invincible in a job market where graduate unemployment is concentrated among men.
Those are the latest findings in focus groups conducted by the centrist pro-Democratic group Third Way and HIT Strategies with men ages 18 to 29 from swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The men were lower-propensity voters — more likely to turn out in a presidential year than a midterm — and voted for Joe Biden in 2020 but switched to Trump last year.
Right off the bat, masculine men, low-propensity voters or not, would NEVER ‘acknowledge historical patriarchy.‘ Because NEVER would they EVER think to use such a soy-boy term, less mind stay up at night wondering and agonizing over whether they’ve benefited from the privilege of it, whatever the furk it is.
I’m just hoping the pollsters and reporters put that phase in because they felt a touch of virtue signaling was sorely needed – not because any of those young men said such a thing.
I’m sure if it were asked, ‘How have you been affected by the historical patriarchy?’ the pollsters got a disgusted ‘Whatever‘ in answer and took it as an affirmative.
So God bless these young lads for breaking free of the Democratic spell.
And even as the party high-ups fret about losing the knuckle-dragging neanderthals they’ve long used as public whipping posts to keep the loonier fringes of their coalition happy, they are too entrenched in their dogmatic inclusive exclusiveness to admit maybe the treatment was a little bit unfair.
Doing so might miff a trans-type or racial grievance grifter, and GAWD, they are always worse to deal with and so much louder than a sulking white male.
So you know who wins.
…Men feeling left behind elicits eye rolls in many corners of the Democratic Party. The gender pay gap persists, with women making 85 percent of what men earned in 2024, despite greater female participation in the workforce than in past decades. The numerous calls from party leaders to appeal to the “manosphere” and appear less “woke” also elicit concerns that that means throwing marginalized groups under the bus on issues like trans or women’s rights.
But that line of criticism only proves their point, said Lucas Holtz, a political analyst with Third Way.
“There is complete misconception from Democrats and especially from progressives about young men moving away from the party, and takes from ‘It was all because of inflation’ to ‘The guys that supported Trump are incels and sexist,’” Holtz said. “It’s just a really terrible stereotype that has backlash effect on Democrats.”
Even from former young Biden voters who think Barack Obama is the most masculine thing the Democratic Party has going for it.
Or maybe that’s an inside part of the joke, huh?

The Republicans don’t have this problem with their old guys. These kids voted for Trump, right?
Gosh. Wonder why.

Or pretenders to masculinity who think growing a beard, sprinkling in a swear word here and there, and emoting will erase what a complete, worthless limp boob you were when you had a real government job.
A different way of practicing politics is possible – where we vigorously fight for what’s right while inviting people into our coalition, rather than pushing them away. pic.twitter.com/5V55prHdoW

Those young defectors from the party of well-compensated wussie warriors Harry Sisson and David Hogg have noticed.
…Incidentally, Obama was the only Democrat whom focus group participants could name as a masculine role model from the party.
“I think being a masculine leader is, like, outlawed in the Democratic Party right now,” one participant said.
The way the Democratic Party is going, I don’t see the guys coming back any time soon, for all the focus groups and ‘concise, three word slogans’ that advertising types whip up out of thin air. There isn’t a single soul who can meet their one simple condition.
…Doss and Holtz said that gives Democrats ample opportunity to win young men back. Concise aspirational economic messages, something that can be condensed into a three-word slogan, performed well, they found. Several focus group participants also responded well to Democratic leaders who spoke directly to them, whether it was former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg speaking with podcaster Andrew Schulz about connecting with differing viewpoints or Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) talking about the need to invest in young men.
“A straight talker, you know, someone that’s not, like, beating around the bush,” one participant said of who would be an ideal candidate. “Somebody that just is not afraid to say what they feel. That’s a very masculine trait.”
The one simple condition that does have a caveat, I should add. The straight talk has to be able to pass the bulls**t meter or it’s just more talk.
Democrats like Buttigieg and Obama are all about talk, aping Charlie Brown’s teacher. That’s where Trump cuts through their…well…noisy bulls**t and effortlessly reaches these kids.
That’s a very masculine trait, too, and age has nothing to do with it.
It’s just part of being a real man.
