Dems Stuck in a Death Spiral of Their Own Making: Greg Gutfeld [WATCH]

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld criticized the Democratic Party on Friday, arguing that its leadership is “paralyzed” by activist-driven politics and unwilling to course-correct from policies that have cost them political control.

Speaking on The Five, Gutfeld suggested that Democrats are struggling to unify their message after President Donald Trump’s election victory, with some members hesitant to continue pushing progressive policies.

During the segment, Gutfeld mocked a recent TikTok trend that several Democratic lawmakers participated in, saying it exemplified their lack of authenticity with voters.

He also questioned claims that the party has four distinct factions working toward electoral success, dismissing the idea entirely.

“I mean, if the Democrats are facing a fork in the road, it probably belongs to Governor Pritzker,” Gutfeld quipped.

“I don’t think there’s four categories. I think there are only two, pragmatists and losers. The pragmatists, which are like Harold [Ford Jr.], these are people who realize that you got to change or you’re going to die. The losers are the people who prefer to die rather than change, but they’re operating in an illusion where they think they’re winning.”

Gutfeld argued that Democrats have become trapped by their own rhetoric and failed policies, unable to acknowledge mistakes for fear of alienating their activist base.

“They think that their activist drama still exerts control or power over the American people when, in fact, it’s only a tiny group of activists. They’re basically, they’ve got guns and they’re shooting blanks. Nobody buys it,” he said.

“[It] actually makes their adversaries, Republicans or Trump, look better by acting the way they do. They’re also paralyzed by the sunk cost of all these years, pushing terrible policies. You don’t want to let it go because you put so much into it.”

On Thursday, several Democratic lawmakers—including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Lauren Underwood, Katherine Clark, Judy Chu, and Susie Lee—posted a video online in which they jumped into a fighting stance mimicking a TikTok trend.

The video was met with widespread criticism from conservatives, who accused the lawmakers of focusing on social media stunts instead of serious policy issues.

Gutfeld used the video as further evidence that Democrats are struggling to connect with voters. He suggested that the party is internally divided and that progressive activists are steering it toward electoral failure.

Gutfeld proposed that the Democratic Party should divide into separate factions to resolve its internal tensions.

“So how do you unite a party where a faction is basically on a path to annihilation and they’re in your plane? They’re a hijacker on your plane,” Gutfeld said.

“That hijacker is not going to have a change of heart. Oppression politics and identity politics is an ideology. It prevents you from changing your mind. So you need to charge the cockpit and toss them out. You actually do need to split the Democratic Party.”

He went on to suggest a name for the progressive wing:

“Let the freaks start their own, ‘Everything is racist’ party. They can call themselves the POTO party, the Party of the Oppressed. But then that leaves your party, Harold, and that’s where you have to redefine what you are without them, which is hard because the foundation has been cultural issues for so long under the rubric of identity politics and oppression politics,” Gutfeld said.

During President Trump’s joint address to Congress on Tuesday, many Democrats remained seated as the president honored 13-year-old D.J. Daniel, a cancer survivor who was given an honorary Secret Service agent title.

Democrat Rep. Al Green of Texas was ejected from the chamber by House Speaker Mike Johnson after repeatedly shouting at Trump during the speech.

The incident further underscored the growing divide within the Democratic Party as they continue to resist Trump’s presidency.

Gutfeld concluded that Democrats are in a “death spiral” and unable to escape the influence of identity politics.

“There are three, academia, Hollywood, Democratic Party. If you look at Hollywood, you look at academia, you’re seeing that it’s inside them, and they can’t get it out,” he said.

“It spreads. It’s a tumor. It’s feasting on the host. If Hollywood can’t get it out, if academia is stuck with it forever, how are the Democrats gonna shake this stuff? You gotta just cut the limb off, kids. Tie him to the airplane seat. I mean, you’re so into trans. That’s a cutting, that’s right,” Gutfeld added.

Democrats have also continued their opposition to President Trump’s agenda.

On Monday, Senate Democrats blocked the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which was introduced by Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama.

The bill, which would have banned biological males from competing in women’s sports, failed to advance in a 51-45 vote along party lines.

A recent Harvard CAPS Harris Poll found that 69% of Americans support banning men who have undergone medical transitions from competing in women’s sports.

Notably, 50% of Democrats surveyed also backed the measure.

As Democrats struggle to unify their party and craft a coherent message, Gutfeld’s assessment suggests that their internal conflicts and refusal to adapt could continue to cost them politically.
