Desperate Housewives Star Flees ‘Dystopian’ America Over Election Results [WATCH]

Actress and activist Eva Longoria has left the United States and is now splitting her time between Mexico and Spain, citing discomfort with America’s shifting landscape.

The Texas-born actress, known for her roles in Desperate Housewives and as a vocal supporter of Democratic causes, recently shared that her “chapter in the U.S.” is now over.

Longoria, who campaigned for Kamala Harris during the recent election cycle, expressed concerns about the future of the country following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory.

She described the U.S. as “dystopian” and said that she felt fortunate to have the means to relocate. “Most Americans aren’t so lucky,” she told Marie Claire magazine, adding, “They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

The actress moved with her husband, producer José Bastón, and their six-year-old son Santiago.

Longoria, who holds Spanish citizenship, has embraced her new lifestyle while filming her CNN miniseries Searching for Spain, a follow-up to her earlier project, Searching for Mexico.

She recently purchased a villa in Marbella, Spain, where she and her family have been setting up their home.

The move comes as Trump has begun naming figures for his administration, sparking reactions from across the political spectrum.

The President-elect nominated Rep. Matt Gaetz as Attorney General and appointed several prominent MAGA supporters, including Elon Musk in a cost-cutting government role, Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, and Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence.

Longoria expressed dismay at Trump’s return to the White House, telling Marie Claire, “The shocking part is not that he won… It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.” She went on to add, “I would like to think our fight continues… If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”

Reflecting on her move from Los Angeles, where she spent her adult life, Longoria shared her concerns about the city’s transformation, including issues like homelessness and rising taxes. “Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes… it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now,” she said.

Longoria also spoke about her experience as a woman in the entertainment industry, highlighting the unique challenges she has faced. “Our industry is famous for specifically men failing up,” she remarked. “That’s great, but I couldn’t do that. I don’t get a second chance.”

Joining her in the interview was actor and Democratic fundraiser George Clooney, a longtime friend who praised Longoria’s dedication to her craft. “Talent doesn’t sustain you in this business. It requires hard work, determination, and brass balls,” Clooney said, emphasizing her resilience in Hollywood.

Approaching her 50th birthday, Longoria is focused on health and longevity. “For me, age is just a number… I refuse to believe my greatest success is behind me,” she told Marie Claire.

Longoria detailed her regimen, including strength training, meditation, journaling, and wellness practices like cold plunging and taking supplements.

As she settles into her new life abroad, Longoria has stayed active in entertainment.

She recently appeared in Only Murders in the Building and Land of Women on Apple TV+, while continuing her advocacy for Democratic causes.

For now, she has left her former Beverly Hills residence on the market, marking a new era for her family in Europe and Latin America.
