Sen. Ashley Moody, a Republican from Florida, accused Democratic leaders and some state officials of fueling chaos and endangering both law enforcement officers and protesters through what she described as reckless rhetoric and actions surrounding immigration enforcement.
Moody made her remarks while discussing recent incidents involving protests and confrontations with federal agents, arguing that claims blaming Republicans for unrest do not align with statements coming from Democratic officials.
“What he’s doing, while these state leaders suggest that it is the other side of the aisle creating chaos,” Moody said.

She pointed specifically to comments she attributed to the Arizona attorney general, criticizing her background and statements regarding federal immigration officers.
“Look at the Arizona ag who just yesterday, by the way, this is an ag who got voters to elect her to be the top cop,” Moody said.
“She’s never practiced law. She was a law professor. She’s a radical, and she comes out yesterday and says people should use Stand Your Ground laws to shoot ICE officers.”
Moody said those remarks were particularly striking given Democrats’ usual opposition to such laws.

“I mean, these are Democrats who, by the way, hate Stand Your Ground laws when law abiding citizens use them to actually defend themselves against criminals,” she said.
“But now they want to use them and tell people to go after ICE agents.”
According to Moody, the rhetoric coming from Democratic leaders makes recent violence and unrest unsurprising.
“And it should shock no one that we’re seeing these these types of incidents tragically unfold,” she said.
Moody argued that Democrats, and possibly foreign interests, are manipulating agitators to advance a political agenda without regard for safety.
“Because the Dems and I would suggest, even foreign interests are so busy using these agitators, some of them paid as pawns,” she said.
“They do not care about their safety.”
She said the goal, in her view, is to provoke confrontation for political advantage.
“All they care about is ginning them up, getting them out there,” Moody said.
“They want them to put themselves in harm’s way because it helps them create this frenzied, false, deceptive narrative, and all they care is about winning a partisan narrative war.”
Moody said she hopes the public is paying attention to what she described as dangerous messaging.
“It is I hope people are watching this and they are hearing what I am saying,” she said.
She continued by accusing Democrats of disregarding the safety of protesters and agitators.
“The Dems do not care about these agitators or so called protesters safety,” Moody said.
As an example, Moody referenced immigration policies under the Biden-Harris administration and actions taken by state and local officials.
“Because if they did, they would say, when Biden and his handlers told all of our state and locals to release everybody in their jails that were here illegally, even though they committed felonies,” she said.
Moody said those releases are now being addressed by the Trump administration.
“And now Trump is going after those people that Biden released, trying to get them out of the communities,” she said.
She argued that Democrats should support those efforts rather than oppose them.
“They would say, let them do their jobs,” Moody said.
“Trump won on this. They won this is this. They are they’re trying to enforce the law.”
Moody concluded by calling for cooperation between state, local, and federal authorities to restore order.
“Don’t just let them do their jobs,” she said. “I got an idea, state, locals, why don’t we help them that will bring peace and order and safety, real safety, to the communities, not ginning up these agitators.”
