A theater in San Francisco is set to launch a musical comedy based on Luigi Mangione, a man currently facing federal murder charges for the alleged assassination of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson.
As reported by The Gateway Pundit, the production, titled “Luigi: The Musical,” is scheduled to open June 4 at the Taylor Street Theater and has already sold out, according to local media reports.
The show is being promoted as “a story of love, murder and hash browns,” and aims to present an irreverent and satirical take on the case.

Mangione pleaded not guilty last week to federal murder charges tied to what prosecutors described as an execution-style killing. The government has announced its intent to seek the death penalty if Mangione is convicted.
The production is the creation of Nova Bradford, Arielle Johnson, André Margatini, and Caleb Zeringue. Bradford, who is directing the musical, said in a statement:
“One of the central ideas that we wanted to explore with this musical is this tendency for us to project meaning onto these types of figures.”
Johnson added that Mangione’s character “is dead serious about his thoughts and goals,” and described a certain “campy” nature to the show’s exploration of themes like vigilantism and moral ambiguity.

In addition to Mangione, the performance reportedly features depictions of other high-profile individuals, including Sean “Diddy” Combs—who is facing allegations of sex trafficking—and Sam Bankman-Fried, the convicted cryptocurrency mogul.
Promotional materials describe the production as a “wildly irreverent, razor-sharp comedy that imagines the true story of Luigi Mangione, the alleged corporate assassin turned accidental folk hero.”
Despite the controversial subject matter, the musical has drawn strong ticket demand and has already sold out its initial run, according to The Post Millennial.

The production arrives as Mangione’s legal case continues to unfold in federal court. Prosecutors have not yet set a trial date, but the decision to pursue capital punishment indicates the severity of the government’s charges.
The announcement of the show has sparked criticism from those who view it as glamorizing violent crime and trivializing a serious legal case.
While supporters of the show have called it a work of satire and social commentary, others have questioned the appropriateness of portraying an accused murderer as a comedic or heroic figure before the conclusion of the trial.
Mangione remains in federal custody as legal proceedings move forward.
