DOJ Surpasses Major Fentanyl Milestone As Bondi Hits 100 Days In Office

The Department of Justice surpassed a major fentanyl milestone as Attorney General Pam Bondi hits 100 days in office and touts her work on curbing the crisis.

Since being confirmed as AG, Bondi has made it a focal point of her leadership to tackle the fentanyl crisis as she and the DOJ charge cartel leaders, seize fentanyl and dismantle Cartel drug pipelines. As of Monday, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has seized more than 3,400 pounds of fentanyl powder and nearly 25 million fentanyl-laced pills in 2025 alone, according to its online tracker. “Fentanyl is poison – full stop. The criminal networks importing it onto our streets are Foreign Terrorist Organizations. There is no law enforcement tool – from street raids to high-level terrorism charges – that we will not use to stop its flow and solve the crisis that the prior administration left behind,” Bondi said in an exclusive quote to the Daily Caller.

In its most recent action, the DOJ announced charges against two Sinaloa Cartel leaders Tuesday with narco-terrorism and material support of terrorism in connection with trafficking massive amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin into the U.S. The father-son duo was leading one of the “largest and most sophisticated fentanyl production networks in the world,” according to the DOJ. While conducting a raid on the Cartel leader’s operation, the DOJ seized 1,500 kilograms, which is the largest seizure of fentanyl in the world, the department shared in a press release.

About a few days prior to Bondi’s 100-day milestone, the DOJ and DEA announced the seizure of over 400 kilograms of fentanyl, including nearly 3 million fentanyl-laced pills, according to a press release. The seizure was the largest fentanyl bust in DEA history.

Under the Biden administration, the epidemic of fentanyl and other drugs was hurting babies, both after birth and in utero, leading to deadly consequences in some cases and a difficult path to recovery in others, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation. In 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recorded more than 100,000 drug overdose deaths, mainly driven by extremely potent and lethal fentanyl.

A month into President Donald Trump’s second term, the DEA successfully dismantled a Sinaloa Cartel drug pipeline, which led to the arrest of six traffickers and the seizure of about 1,000 pounds of meth, 17 kilos of fentanyl powder, 20,000 fake M-30 pills laced with fentanyl, 5 kilos of cocaine, firearms and cash, according to a press release.

On Monday, the DOJ secured a 21-count indictment against the Chinese company, CapsulCN International Co. Ltd., and three Chinese nationals for their alleged role in the illegal importation of pill-making equipment, a press release announced.

“Leveling terrorism charges against high-level fentanyl distributors changes the game and allows Department of Justice assets to more effectively dismantle distribution networks,” one DOJ official told the Caller about the administration’s effort over Bondi’s first 100 days. “This is a comprehensive effort to strike fear into the hearts of those profiting off the death and destruction of American lives. There are no slaps on the wrist.”
