Rep. Byron Donalds said Friday he believes President Donald Trump will make the “right decision” regarding potential U.S. military involvement in assisting Israel with strikes on Iran’s nuclear weapons program, as reported by Newsmax.
Speaking to Newsmax’s Newsline, the Florida Republican addressed ongoing discussions at the White House about whether the United States will provide direct assistance to Israel in targeting Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
“First and foremost, I think that the president is going to make the absolute right decision,” Donalds said.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Thursday that President Trump is currently allowing for a two-week window for diplomacy before making a final determination on whether to move forward with military action.
The administration has reportedly been weighing air support and targeted missile strikes as potential options.
Donalds, who has announced a run for governor of Florida, expressed confidence in the president’s decision-making, referencing Trump’s prior restraint during his first term. “
We already know from his first time as president of the United States that President Trump is not interested in protracted engagements with using the United States military,” he said.

He predicted that any U.S. action under Trump would be swift. “If we actually do anything, this is going to be — it’s quick and decisive, and we bring our troops home,” Donalds said.
The congressman added that he would support U.S. strikes on nuclear facilities if presented with credible intelligence.

“If the president is presented with an opportunity where we essentially use some of our weaponry to take out this last nuclear facility in Iran, I think that’s an opportunity that we have to take,” Donalds said.
However, he made clear that he does not support committing American ground forces. “I do not want boots on the ground. I do not want soldiers in harm’s way,” he said.
Donalds also said he no longer needed convincing that Iran poses a direct threat. “We are being presented with a major threat from Iran with respect to nuclear weapons. That is crystal clear at this point. Everybody knows that,” he said.
The situation continues to escalate, with Israel and Iran engaged in near-daily missile exchanges. Israel initiated the current round of strikes last week after diplomatic talks over Iran’s nuclear program broke down.
President Trump has not yet announced a final decision on military involvement. The administration has confirmed that ongoing discussions with allies in the region and within the U.S. national security apparatus are continuing.
