Kai Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and granddaughter of President Donald Trump, said she believes politics has become “a dangerous thing” and described efforts to stay out of political conflict in a wide-ranging interview published Monday, as reported by The New York Post.

Speaking on Impaulsive, hosted by Logan Paul, the 18-year-old said she deliberately avoids politics and tries to maintain a middle-ground outlook despite being part of one of the country’s most prominent political families.

“I don’t want anything to do with politics because I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing,” Kai said during the interview.

Kai said she has observed increased division on both sides of the political spectrum, which she largely attributed to the influence of social media.

“I think if both sides met in the middle, everyone would be so much more happier, and I think there’s a lot of this radical left and there’s a radical right, and there’s a lot of people that are getting too extreme,” she said.

“And that’s where social media really ties into it because social media kinda makes your … feed be one way or the other,” she continued.

“There’s not a lot of things on social media where you’re very much in the middle and I think that kinda makes some people crazy and some people buy into it too much.”

Kai also addressed speculation about her views toward former Vice President Kamala Harris, President Trump’s opponent in the 2024 election. When asked whether Harris was the “opps,” Kai said there was no personal animosity.

“There’s no bad blood. I’m very much in the middle. I’m kind of like ‘It is what it is.’ They ran against each other — obviously, I’m going to support my grandpa, my family member, but that’s pretty much it,” she said.

During the interview, Kai was also asked about her relationship with her cousin Barron Trump, whom she referred to as “Uncle B,” a nickname used within the family. Barron Trump, 19, is currently attending New York University.

“He’s a great guy,” Kai said. “He doesn’t like the public eye so much, which I understand. But he’s a great guy.”

Kai was also asked about a moment during President Trump’s second inauguration earlier this year, when Barron was seen leaning in to whisper to former President Joe Biden.

She said she could not say exactly what was said but believed it would have been “nice.”

Beyond politics and family, Kai discussed her personal life, including the challenges of dating while under constant protection from the United States Secret Service. She acknowledged that the experience can be uncomfortable.

“It’s a little weird,” she said, describing situations where agents sit nearby during outings.

Even when spending time with friends, Kai said she has had to learn how to adjust.

“I try my best to not let it bother me and I think I’ve learned, especially the past year now … to [know] yes, they’re following me, but also focus and pretend like they’re not there,” she said. “But the first few months, it was tough.”

Kai has committed to playing collegiate golf at the University of Miami next year, marking the next chapter as she balances athletics, education, and the unique circumstances of growing up in a presidential family.
