‘Don’t Say His Name, For Heaven’s Sake’: Kristi Noem Slams CBS Host For Naming ICE Agent Amid Death Threats

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem slammed the host of Face The Nation after she named the agent involved in the recent Minneapolis shooting.

Noem joined Margaret Brennan on a CBS segment of Face The Nation Sunday to discuss the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minnesota including the shooting on Jan. 7 that resulted in the death of Renee Good.

Brennan specifically mentioned the ICE officer’s name who was involved in the shooting. “Let me talk to you about the officer, Jonathan Ross, he was struck, he was hospitalized,” Brennan said before Noem angrily cut her off.

“Well don’t say his name, I mean, for heaven’s sakes, we shouldn’t have people continue to dox law enforcement when they have an 8,000 percent increase in death threats against them,” Noem said. “He got attacked with a car that was trying to take his life, and then people have attacked him and his family, and they are in jeopardy, and we have law enforcement officers every day who are getting death threats, getting attacked at their hotels, and they’re getting ice thrown at them.”

Noem also talked about how this particular incident was a tragedy, but how grateful she was that the officer involved protected himself and those around him.

“This officer relied on his training to defend his life and to defend those around him, and we’re grateful that we’re in a situation where we hope that more people don’t weaponize their vehicles like this. We’re seeing it happen over and over again. We’ve seen over a hundred different vehicles weaponized and attacking law enforcement officers,” Noem continued.

Noem also said she hoped that Minneapolis Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey would work with President Trump‘s administration to bring safety to the streets and a way for protestors to express their First Amendment rights in a way that wouldn’t impede ICE operations. A YouGov poll taken between Jan. 9 and Jan. 11 showed that 53%  of respondents believe Ross should face criminal charges for his actions. His whereabouts are currently unknown, as he and his family went into hiding after the shooting, and DHS has declined to reveal any information due to safety concerns.

A DHS report from Oct. 30 showed that death threats against ICE agents have increased by 8,000 percent since Trump came into office.
