Elon Musk injected $10 million to boost businessman Nate Morris’s bid to replace retiring Republican Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, marking his largest contribution to a Senate candidate, according to Axios.
Musk made his $10 million contribution to pro-Morris Fight for Kentucky super PAC, which backs Morris, last week, Axios reported. This follows his support for President Donald Trump in the 2024 election. The tech billionaire also has a close relationship with Vice President JD Vance.
The contribution lands as Morris trails former Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Rep. Andy Barr in a recent GOP primary survey obtained by the Daily Caller. It showed Cameron leading the race at 40% support and with an edge among men and women across regardless of age. The Cameron-aligned super PAC Kentucky First Action commissioned the pol. Barr’s campaign manager, Blake Gober, called Morris’s campaign little more than a “bonfire” fueled by thrown-away money, according to a Barr campaign press release.
“The more money Nate Morris spends, the more Kentuckians get to see him and the worse he does. Nate Morris and his never-Trump allies have already spent $6 million on TV, and he’s stuck in a distant third and statistically tied with a DEMOCRAT in a Kentucky general election poll,” Gober wrote.
My Statement for @barrforsenate on the contribution from Elon Musk to Nate Morris’ dumpster fire:
The more money Nate Morris spends, the more Kentuckians get to see him and the worse he does. Nate Morris and his never-Trump allies have already spent $6 million on TV, and he’s…

Gober also contended that Kentuckians are souring on Morris because of a $5,000 donation he made to the Stand for America PAC, a leadership PAC linked to Nikki Haley in 2021. Gober claimed Morris was backing her over Trump in the 2024 presidential election. (RELATED: Democrats’ Favorite Black Hole Of Fundraising Is Back To Lose Another Senate Race)
Rubicon Technologies, founded by Morris, was delisted by the New York Stock Exchange in June 2024 less than two years after it went public, the Lexington Herald Leader reported. The stock exchange said the firm failed minimum market capitalization requirements.
The company has faced major financial struggles, including leadership turnover, layoffs and debt issues, but continues to operate, offering waste management software and sustainability services in a much-diminished capacity.
Rubicon also reportedly removed content from its website related to Morris on topics such as DEI, ESG and Black Lives Matter, according to the Washington Examiner.
Responding to news of Musk’s donation, Cameron campaign manager Nathanael Hirt alleged to the Caller that Morris has a history of misleading investors and running unprofitable companies and claimed he’s falsely portraying his ideological record.
“Nate Morris has a long history of convincing wealthy investors to light their money on fire. He’s a pretty good con man. He did this before when he ran his trash company into the ground by defrauding investors of millions with lies of a company that never made a dime once. And he’s attempting to do it again by trying to convince voters that he’s really a conservative outsider, when his record is nothing more than that of a bored, liberal, woke, failed businessman who is looking for his next mark,” he told the Caller.
Hirt argued that Cameron is leading in multiple polls despite fundraising efforts by both Barr and Morris.
“Daniel is leading this election in poll after poll despite millions already being spent against him. This race has already taken shape, and it shows Daniel Cameron is a dominant force in Kentucky,” Hirt wrote. The other two guys are running a distant second and third despite how much they bluster on social media. Voters know the other candidates. They’ve decided on Daniel. We would, however, like to congratulate the local Kentucky TV stations on the windfall of cash about Fake Nate headed their way,” he told the Caller.
Musk was also the biggest contributor of the 2024 cycle, directing at least $288 million to Republican-leaning causes, the bulk of which supported Trump, according to The Washington Post. After the businessman made multiple sizable donations to Trump in 2024, he led the charge to cut the size of the federal government and served as an influential White House adviser.
Great news! A huge campaign contribution from @elonmusk for @NateMorris!
Nate Morris is a 9th generation Kentuckian — an entrepreneur, family man, and patriotic populist.

A highly publicized midyear break between the two followed, with the tech billionaire having spent the months following the split mending ties with Trump and gradually moving back into the GOP’s orbit.
