Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) has raised concerns that the Biden-Harris administration may have tampered with documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, following recent media reports implicating President Donald Trump.

Burchett suggested that information within the Epstein files could have been altered or planted in an effort to damage Trump’s reputation.

The remarks from the Tennessee congressman came during an interview with CNN earlier this week, in the wake of a report published by the Wall Street Journal.

Trump’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: What Could It Mean For Your Money?

The Journal claimed that Trump had sent Epstein a “bawdy” birthday card in 2003, which allegedly included a hand-drawn nude sketch.

President Trump has denied the allegation and has since filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, its parent company News Corp, Rupert Murdoch, and the journalists who authored the report.

Burchett, who has been vocal about the need for transparency regarding the Epstein case, questioned the integrity of the files, citing what he called a pattern of corruption within the current administration.

“The reason I‘m worried about these files now is the fact that the Biden Administration, who, in my opinion, has a history of corruption, has tampered with these files, and we‘re never going to get to the bottom of it. I think stuff could have been placed in those files,” Burchett said during the CNN interview.

Burchett is one of ten Republican lawmakers who signed onto a discharge petition introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), which aims to force the release of all Epstein-related records.

The petition is part of a broader effort among House Republicans to demand full transparency in the case, especially regarding any potential involvement of high-profile individuals.

“Do I have proof? No, I don’t, but I have a gut feeling and a historical reference, which is every daggum time something like this happens in this town, it gets covered up and it needs to stop,” Burchett added.

“I salute President Trump for pushing to move forward on those records that they have.”

The lawsuit filed by Trump against the Wall Street Journal and others marks one of the most high-profile defamation claims by a public figure in recent memory.

In the complaint, Trump argues that the article misrepresented facts, presented unverifiable claims, and was part of a broader effort to damage his public image.

The controversy surrounding the Epstein files continues to attract national attention as lawmakers from both parties demand access to documents connected to Epstein’s alleged network.

The federal government has released limited information over the years, but multiple investigations remain sealed or redacted.

To date, there has been no official confirmation or public evidence indicating tampering with the Epstein files by the Biden-Harris administration.

However, Rep. Burchett and others maintain that a full and transparent accounting is necessary to ensure public trust.

The discharge petition by Rep. Massie has yet to reach the necessary threshold for a full vote in the House.

Efforts to unseal additional records are expected to continue through the remainder of the congressional term.
