Virginia Giuffre, a key figure in the legal battles against Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew, has died by suicide at the age of 41, according to a report from NBC News.

Giuffre, who publicly accused Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was underage, was living in Neergabby, Australia, at the time of her death.

She had been one of the most prominent voices among Epstein’s accusers, filing a lawsuit against Prince Andrew in New York in 2021.

In the lawsuit, Giuffre alleged she was forced to have sex with the English royal on three separate occasions between 1999 and 2002 while she was still underage.

Her family issued a statement confirming her passing, stating, “It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.”

The statement continued, “She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.”

“Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors,” her family’s statement added.

“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”

Giuffre’s attorney, Sigrid McCawley, also released a statement honoring her client and friend.

“Virginia Giuffre was much more than a client to me, she was a dear friend. Virginia was fearless, and her courage pushed me to fight harder,” McCawley said.

“Virginia’s sunny strength was contagious and her smile spread hope to so many. She lifted us all to be better, and so we must be better. The world has lost a light that shone bright. Rest in peace, my sweet angel.”

Giuffre’s allegations against Prince Andrew became a significant international news story, placing renewed scrutiny on Epstein’s criminal network and the figures associated with him.

Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied Giuffre’s claims and reached an out-of-court settlement with her in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing.

Jeffrey Epstein allegedly died by suicide in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Epstein’s longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted on multiple charges related to trafficking minors for Epstein.

A native of Florida, Giuffre said she was recruited into Epstein’s circle by Ghislaine Maxwell when she was just 16 years old.

She later became an advocate for other survivors of abuse, frequently speaking out about her experiences and pushing for greater accountability for individuals tied to Epstein’s network.

Authorities in Australia have not released additional details surrounding Giuffre’s death.

Her passing marks another tragic chapter in the broader investigation into Epstein’s abuses and the long-term impact on his victims.
