Victims of Jeffrey Epstein are publicly demanding the release of all federal investigative files related to the late financier’s sex trafficking case, intensifying pressure on Congress and the Justice Department, as reported by Yahoo News.

The women, many of whom have never spoken publicly before, joined lawmakers in Washington on September 2 to push for transparency.

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra ruled Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, that federal prosecutors violated the rights of victims by secretly reaching a non-prosecution agreement with Epstein, a wealthy financier accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls. Their calls for disclosure come after the House Oversight and Reform Committee released 33,295 pages of subpoenaed records earlier this week.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters that a vote to compel further releases is unnecessary following the committee’s document dump.

But Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) are pressing forward with a bipartisan discharge petition to force a vote on full disclosure. Massie said he prayed Johnson would not block the effort.

Several survivors met privately with members of the Oversight Committee on September 2, recounting abuse and reiterating their demands. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), herself a survivor of sexual assault, became emotional and visibly shaken during the meeting.

Epstein died by suicide in federal custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted and is serving a 20-year sentence.

Among those speaking out was Anouska De Georgiou, an Epstein accuser who has previously been mentioned in news reports due to her past associations with Epstein and Maxwell.

“I chose to come because this bill really matters,” De Georgiou said outside the Capitol.

“I speak today not only in service of my own recovery from trauma inflicted by Maxwell and Epstein, but to honor the lives, the courage, and sacrifices of Virginia Giuffre, Carolyn Andriano, and others who could not continue.”

Andriano, another victim, died of a drug overdose in May 2023 at age 36. She had said Epstein began abusing her in 2001 at his Palm Beach residence when she was 14 years old. “Their voices mattered,” De Georgiou continued. “Their stories must not be forgotten.”

While De Georgiou made no mention of past social connections, she issued a direct appeal to President Donald Trump for assistance. “You have so much influence and power in this situation,” she said.

“Please use that influence and power to help us, because we need it now, and this country needs it now.”

The push to release Epstein’s files comes as lawmakers remain divided on how far disclosure should go.

Supporters of the Massie-Khanna petition argue that only full transparency will deliver justice to the victims, while others point to concerns about privacy and ongoing legal implications.
