Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams was caught on video exchanging profane remarks with a heckler at an airport in Texas, an incident that quickly spread across social media and reignited public scrutiny of the one-term mayor’s confrontational style, as reported by The New York Post.
The confrontation occurred as Adams was disembarking a flight in Dallas, according to details visible in a video posted to Reddit on Tuesday.
The clip does not show what prompted the argument, but it captures a tense verbal exchange between Adams, 65, and a masked passenger on the skybridge.
At one point in the video, the passenger can be heard addressing Adams by name and taunting him, saying, “Eric Adams, please punch me in the face. I would like if you punched me in the face.”
Adams responded bluntly, telling the passenger, “Go f**k yourself…I’m not the mayor anymore.”
As the exchange continued, Adams leaned toward the woman and issued a warning that quickly became the most widely shared line from the clip: “You’re gonna see the Brooklyn in me.”
The video shows the woman then pushing Adams out of her way as the two continued moving through the airport.

No physical altercation beyond that brief contact is visible in the footage, and there were no reports of police involvement following the incident.

It remains unclear why Adams was traveling in Texas. The former mayor, who served one term after being elected in 2021, had been in New York City earlier in the week.
On Monday, Adams appeared in Manhattan to announce his next professional venture, which he described as an initiative focused on combating antisemitism through the use of cryptocurrency.
Adams, a former NYPD captain who was born in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, has frequently referenced his upbringing and law enforcement background during moments of public conflict, both during and after his tenure as mayor.
Reaction to the airport video was swift on Reddit, where users weighed in on Adams’ remarks and demeanor. One commenter wrote, “Did he just say ‘you’ll see the Brooklyn in me’? Ok, grandpa.”
Adams later responded to coverage of the incident on X, posting a brief reply that read: “Exactly.”
His spokesman, Todd Shapiro, issued a statement defending Adams and pushing back on how the incident was portrayed online.
Shapiro said Adams “is a private citizen and was harassed,” and argued that the circulating footage did not tell the full story.
“The clip is selectively edited, lacks critical context, and misrepresents what actually occurred,” Shapiro said, though he did not provide additional details about what led up to the confrontation.
The airport incident adds to a series of public controversies involving Adams since leaving office, as his post-mayoral activities and public appearances continue to draw attention.
