President Donald Trump has ordered the declassification of all remaining government documents related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The executive order, signed on Thursday, directs the Director of National Intelligence to develop a plan within 15 days to release the documents in full.
Speaking during the signing, Trump acknowledged the significance of the move, stating, “That’s a big one, huh? A lot of people have been waiting for this for years, for decades.

Everything will be revealed.” He then handed the pen he used to sign the order to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., emphasizing the importance of transparency in these long-guarded records.
The executive order, obtained by DailyMail.com, outlines the administration’s commitment to releasing all documents related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“Their families and the American people deserve transparency and truth,” the order reads. “It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay.”
Millions of pages of documents concerning the Kennedy assassination have already been made public, but a few thousand files remain classified.
These records have been the subject of speculation and conspiracy theories, with some questioning whether Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone or if foreign powers or other entities were involved.
The most recent document releases included CIA cables and memos detailing Oswald’s visits to the Cuban and Soviet embassies in Mexico City weeks before the assassination.
While experts doubt any remaining files will contain groundbreaking revelations, their release is expected to provide further context to the events surrounding Kennedy’s death.
In addition to the JFK assassination files, the executive order also directs intelligence officials to create a plan to release remaining records related to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. within 45 days.
These archives are similarly believed to hold few significant secrets, but the continued secrecy has fueled conspiracy theories and public demands for transparency.
The decision to release the documents fulfills a promise Trump made during his 2024 reelection campaign.
He previously pledged to declassify the JFK records during his first term but delayed the process following objections from the CIA and FBI, which argued that releasing certain documents could compromise national security.
During a recent interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Trump teased the announcement, saying, “I’m going to release them immediately. We’re going to see the information.”
Trump revealed that former CIA Director Mike Pompeo had persuaded him during his first term not to release the files, citing concerns about timing and national security.
“I felt he knew something that maybe, you know, when he asked you not to, you sort of say ‘why?’” Trump explained.

For decades, the lack of full transparency regarding the JFK assassination has fueled widespread conspiracy theories.
Speculation ranges from Oswald being a pawn of the Cuban or Soviet governments to questions about why nightclub owner Jack Ruby killed Oswald on live television.
The release of these records may not resolve all lingering questions, but it is expected to provide additional clarity.
Trump’s executive order states, “I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest, and the release of these records is long overdue.”
With this move, Trump has set the stage for a significant milestone in the decades-long effort to uncover the full story behind one of the most shocking events in American history.
