Two former Politico reporters, Marc Caputo and Tara Palmeri, have pulled back the curtain on how their former employer allegedly worked to shield Joe Biden and his son Hunter from damaging news coverage, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Speaking candidly on Palmeri’s podcast, Somebody’s Gotta Win, the two journalists detailed how negative stories about the Bidens were spiked by Politico, further eroding public trust in the mainstream media.
Caputo and Palmeri described how editors, bowing to higher-ups, shut down critical reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop story and his shady business dealings with Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company.

This suppression occurred in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election when major platforms like Facebook and Twitter also worked to silence reporting on the laptop, punishing outlets like The New York Post.
Caputo recalled approaching his editors at Politico with concerns about the Hunter Biden laptop. Instead of pursuing the story, he was told not to write about it, tweet about it, or discuss it.
“And the only thing Politico wound up writing was that piece that called it disinformation, which charitably could be called misinformation, at the least,” Caputo said.
Palmeri also shared her frustration, recounting her difficulties in publishing a report on Hunter Biden’s illegal gun purchase.
Despite spending three months on the story and gathering substantial evidence, Palmeri suggested her editors delayed publication to protect Biden during the administration’s “honeymoon period.”
Caputo further revealed that, in 2019, he wrote an investigative story about Hunter Biden’s tax lien tied to his time working for Burisma. Editors killed the story without providing an explanation.
“The public doesn’t know about these things, But as a reporter, having witnessed the way in which the two candidates —”
The two reporters agreed that these editorial decisions have cost mainstream media outlets their credibility. They attributed much of this to “cowardly editors” and politically motivated decisions aimed at protecting Democrats and dismissing unfavorable stories as “misinformation.”
Caputo’s and Palmeri’s revelations underscore the growing perception that many major outlets function as partisan propaganda machines rather than neutral watchdogs. As Palmeri bluntly put it, the mainstream media’s failures aren’t just about bias but also about poor decision-making at the top.
As the Biden administration faces increasing scrutiny, these accounts serve as a stark reminder of how media outlets prioritized politics over truth. The public is now left wondering how many other stories were buried to protect the Bidens — and whether they will ever see the light of day.
