The Public Safety Alliance of Nevada (PSAN) is endorsing Kash Patel for director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Daily Caller first learned.
The organization announced its “strong and unwavering support” for Patel in a letter addressed to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, citing Patel’s national security and law enforcement background.
PSAN represents over 10,000 law enforcement officers, according to the group’s Facebook page. The Las Vegas Police Protective Association, the Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association and the Las Vegas Department of Public Safety, among others, are also listed. “Kash Patel’s extensive experience in national security, law enforcement, and his commitment to upholding the rule of law make him an exemplary candidate for this vital position,” the letter, obtained by the Caller, reads.
Patel served as chief of staff to the secretary of defense during the first Trump administration. He was a fierce critic of Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged “Russian interference” during the 2016 election.
“His tenure in various roles, including his service as the Chief of Staff for the Department of Defense and as a Deputy Assistant to the President, has equipped him with a profound understanding of the complexities and challenges facing our nation’s law enforcement agencies,” the letter continues.
The group said it believed Patel possessed the five necessary qualities for FBI director, including leadership experience and advocacy for law enforcement. (RELATED: Seven GOP Senators Most Likely To Stand Between Trump And His Dream Cabinet)
PSAN is not the only law enforcement group backing Patel. The United Federation of Police Officers (UFPO) endorsed him Wednesday, citing his experience as a federal prosecutor.
“Kash Patel’s unwavering support for the rule of law and his dedication to protecting the American people make him the ideal candidate to lead the FBI,” the letter states.
