FACT CHECK: Did Burger King Troll McDonald’s By Posting ‘We Don’t Snitch’?

A viral social media post claims that the official X account of Burger King posted “We don’t snitch” shortly after the alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO shooter was arrested at a McDonald’s.

Verdict: False

The screenshot has been digitally altered. No official Burger King social media accounts have posted this.

Fact Check:

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed on a Manhattan street in December, and the murder sparked a manhunt that led into multiple states and gripped social media. On Monday, December 9, police made an arrest after a tip from an employee at a McDonald’s in Altoona, PA. Authorities captured 26-year-old Ivy-league graduate Luigi Mangione as he sat inside the restaurant, where he was allegedly found to be carrying guns, ammo, cash and fake ID’s.

Many posts going viral claim to show a tweet from rival Burger King which pokes fun at the story. It purports to show a post on their official X feed that simply says, “We don’t snitch.”

This screenshot is fake, however. The official X page of Burger King does not have any posts of the sort, and there have been no new posts there since before the arrest as of press time. Their website does not make any mention of this, either. (RELATED: Was Luigi Mangione’s Manifesto Published On Substack?)

The FBI and NYPD had been offering a $60,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the brazen murder. The anonymous employee tipster might not end up seeing any of the money, however, because of FBI rules and red tape.
