Fact Check:

Rebels burned the tomb of Bashar al-Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad, BBC News reported. Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham forced Assad to flee Damascus as they take control of the country, according to the outlet.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purports CNN showed Jolani’s pronouns during an interview with journalist Jomana Karadsheh. The image shows Jolani gesturing as he sits on a chair.

The caption reads, “CNN put a Salafi Jihadist’s gender pronouns on the screen.” The image shows his name followed by “He/Him.”

The claim is inaccurate. The full interview is available on CNN’s YouTube channel. At no point did the chyron show his pronouns.

Jolani recently led a military insurgency that faced Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, The Associated Press reported. Jolani was a long-time member of the terrorist group al-Qaida, but has since renounced his involvement, according to the outlet.
