Verdict: False
While the 404 error page is real and appears on Harris’ website, there is no indication the page was created by Trump’s White House digital team.
Fact Check:
CBS News provided documents related to Harris’ “60 Minutes” interview to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) after the agency chair, Brendan Carr, reopened a complaint about the appearance, according to USA Today. Trump accused the outlet of a “fake news scam” over how they edited the interview, the outlet reported.
The X post, viewed over 100,000 times as of writing, claims Trump’s White House digital team created a custom 404 error page for Harris’ website.
“HOLY SMOKES Give The White House digital team a RAISE,” the post reads. The post includes a screenshot of a 404 error page from Harris’ website. “404 This page is unburdened by what has been. You have reached a broken link. Please return to the home page or use the navigation above,” the error message indicates. The error message references a popular catchphrase from Harris.
The claim is false. While the 404 error page is real and appears on Harris’ website, there is no indication the page was created by Trump’s White House digital team. Check Your Fact performed a search of the White House’s website and did not find any reference to the claim.
The claim also does not appear on the White House’s verified social media accounts. Likewise, neither Trump nor Harris have publicly commented on the claim. (RELATED: No, Donald Trump Did Not Criticize Keir Starmer Over A 100-Year Deal Between The UK And Ukraine)
In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Feb. 4, Snopes debunked the claim. According to the outlet, the error page existed during the 2024 election cycle when Harris’ website was used for her presidential campaign. At the time, the 404 error page read, “This page exists in the context of all that came before it,” referencing a different catchphrase from Harris.
Check Your Fact has contacted the White House for comment.
